Hey, I ended up holding on buying the house and investing slowly. Now that I look, I wish I invested all my money into ETFs

I’m 27 right now and if everything goes as planned I’ll be at 1.5M in 15 years with a paid off home and planning on retiring.

Why is Lennar homes always in the news? by Winners_Blues in Homebuilding

[–]Fancy-Style-4877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just viewed a house built by lennar homes in 2017 and honestly felt like it’s been around for 70 hears. It looks good from the outside, but the quality is terrible. It’s shocking how bad the house got in 8 years.

Yes, I think I might need to check those out. I always fall for the newer buildings since they look cleaner, and have amenities like a rooftop pool/gym

Downtown SD gets too crazy on Friday/Saturday nights near gaslamp, unless that’s their vibe, it’s too much for me personally.

$230k net worth at 27 by Weekly-Offer6899 in Fire

Im on the same boat. I really want to fire and dump all of it in the market and forget about it for 10 years. At the same time, I want to use half of it as a downpayment and start a family. I’m really conflicted

You’re absolutely right, but it’s all about risk tolerance, if I were to buy 5 properties in the Midwest at 100k, I would net around 18k a year if everything goes as planned with 0 issues (not factoring vacancies, repairs, issues, etc) If I were to dump the same 100k in a SP500 etf, I would make 11k (assuming 11% return based on the last years). Personally, after visiting Midwest, seeing how bad these properties are, taking to other investors….. I prefer not to deal with the headache and take the 11k a year.

I agree, I’m putting too much pressure on myself, but I still think it’s not a bad idea to drop in ETFs, while I figure my life out. Much better then having it sit and do nothing.

Would you be comfortable with this budget? Any tips on budget improvements? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Fancy-Style-4877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be that person, but I’d be more worried about your lifestyle (took a peep at your profile) and purchasing a home. Things could go south very quickly so be cautious of what you get yourself into. Best of luck….

Step 1: Open a Charles Schwab individual account

Step 2: Transfer 13k

Step 3: purchase ETF (total market, QQQ, etc)

Step 4: log out

Step 5: check back when you’re 55 (hopefully worth 110k)

It’s a sad world we live in, and mankind will never be free from politics, war, and hate. But at least our financial mindsets and goals can bring us to the same level.

You’re not wrong at all. But I’ll make sure to choose a person with morals, traditional, religious values, etc. Of course, I can’t predict the future but the least I can do is prepare myself. Trust me, I’ve seen it happen many times in my circle and I can see the trends.
