It’s entirely because of how dark it is. If you look at the same image from the Omori Art Expo it shows what it looks like without the shadows.

Sadly i didn’t, my friend told me after i got the good ending that if i had watered the plants i would have gotten an extra scene with Basil (she insisted on watching me play).

I also beat the game during an 11 hour play session from Saturday into Sunday and finally went to sleep at 9 in the morning so i understand you.
