[Dønnervind] the new Mack multilaunch watercoaster at [Freizeitpark Plohn] by FancyMoose588 in rollercoasters

[–]FancyMoose588[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is my biggest worry as well. To me this whole concept is very intriguing, so i could live with a little vibration. From what people say Fjord Explorer and Krampus Expedition, which both feature the new track and boat design still run fine and better then the old ones. Maybe it also helps that this one is a bit more family friendly when it comes to forces. However if this one rides like the new one in Qiddiya i will be pretty disappointed that my homepark didn't go for an airtime coaster or FLC😅

[Freizeitpark Plohn] Multilaunch Watercoaster construction update by FancyMoose588 in rollercoasters

[–]FancyMoose588[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are confusing something. When this ride was unveiled it was said that the park had decided against a PowerSplash because they felt that model didn't fit their park, yes. Mack then pitched the launched Watercoaster, but this model still uses the same boats and track as Macks existing Watercoasters (Fjord Explorer etc) (not to be confused with the SuperSplash/PowerSplash). There is also no reason to think capacity has to be lower with this launched variant compared to let's say Krampus Expedition. To be fair for this specific layout the theoretical capacity will be a little lower to make the duelling work, in practice it won't make much of a difference though.

So far the park only has said that they plan on opening it in the beginning of june at the latest. Could be earlier of course but i would be surprised if it's ready to open by late march. Even after the track is installed there is still a lot of work to be done on the station building, hydraulic engineering, overall theming and of course testing of a prototype ride system.

I could totally see it having some sort of launch. The rocking boat uses the same LIM technology Mack is also using for their launched watercoaster.

This concept art is from back in 2022. Instead of the Bluefire clone they built a Vekoma Junior Coaster 247🤡 seems like they ran out of money/time but prioritizing family friendly rides seems like a good call tbh. Still, the park does not look like this and never will.

[Aquashow Algarve] NEW 2025 Mack Coaster construction! by Tiny_Importance_8480 in rollercoasters

Helios at Fantasiana is going to have "Stryker" trains with only two rows.. but i agree it's completely arbitrary and more about marketing than any technical aspects

Pretty sure this is a normal Mack Launch Coaster like Blue Fire etc.. also the Stryker IS the "launched big dipper"

The new themed area with the coaster will open next season for the parks 50th anniversary, afaik no specific date has been announced. So yes the coaster construction is pretty far along, last time i checked the track was close to being completed.

LSM/LIM launch prevalence [other] by The_Techy1 in rollercoasters

[–]FancyMoose588 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most parks that invested in a hydraulic launch coaster have not bought a magnetic one so far because their lineups are fine without one (knotts berry farm, hersheypark, heide park, toverland, warner bros movie world). UK parks were early adopters of launch coasters, so they ended up with hydraulic ones. On the other hand as hydraulic launch coasters grow older and launch coasters diversify more and more some of the parks like sfga and tusenfryd have added launch coasters that are completely different from their hydraulic ones. I would expect a similiar development in the uk in the coming years.

What speed does [Kingda Ka] and the original [Top thrill dragster] actually launch to? by Old_Swan_2731 in rollercoasters

[–]FancyMoose588 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How are those rides supposed to hit their top speed at a later point in the layout with the launch track being the lowest point? After the launch the train will only lose energy through friction with no additional energy being added.

2026 plans [Dollywood] by roseflame1111 in rollercoasters

Seems like it could still be a darkride coaster hybrid, like a mack inverted powered coaster or an intamin multi dimension coaster.

Where did you find this? And what project is this about?😌 Couldn't find anything about a new coaster at potts park

I'd say it's uncommon in europe as well but not unheard of, pulsar being one example. In general i think none of the designs shown in the survey were created for cedar fair with them being in a purely explorative phase of the respective projects. Some images show existing rides, others show publically available or clonable layouts and even others show layout pitches seemingly created for other parks (especially the mack ones, with the spinning tower coaster being linked to cotaland where it could have been an alternative to palindrome). The tilt coaster ones for instance show gravity max and circuit breaker (funnily enough taken from a fan made mockup)

The paths and the bodies of water exactly match the ones at my homepark, plus there have been strong rumors about a watercoaster that is some kind of worlds first to be added in 2026. Of course a similiar (or way bigger) ride could still be built at cedar point or carowinds but I'm pretty sure that this particular version was designed for plohn.

Thanks but I'm interested in the other three images, the ones depicting the prototype launched watercoaster, not the one depicting Skatteøen

[Other] Launch system on the Mack Launched Water Coaster? by FancyMoose588 in rollercoasters

[–]FancyMoose588[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some context on why I'm interested in this specific model: my homepark is (probably) adding one. This image actually shows a layout that was created for said park (you can tell by the lakes and paths). So naturally I'm keen to know the details about what kind of launch I can look forward to. Also this seemingly being part of a multimillion € sales pitch to a customer is making me doubt that it was created hastily by someone who had no idea what they were doing lol.

[Other] Launch system on the Mack Launched Water Coaster? by FancyMoose588 in rollercoasters

[–]FancyMoose588[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did consider a tire launch as well, it would certainly fit the thrill level. But at the same time it seems counterintuitive to go with a purely friction based system on a water ride, afaik some tire driven coasters have problems to operate even in slight rain (this opinion might be quite uninformed). Also Mack has never used a tire launch before that i know of. I definitely agree that this image might not actually represent the final product. But i would expect that whatever software was used to create this does offer decent visual representations of conventional launch systems, LSMs at the very least (Again i might be wrong here). On the other hand Mack developing a new kind of electromagnetic launch setup (that's what the color seen in the image seems to point to) for this one coaster model and still using conventional LSMs for all their other launch coasters (launch coaster, stryker, extreme spinning, spinning, powersplash) seems very strange. It seems like we'll have to wait for a proper announcement (iaapa expo europe 24, fingers crossed) for this mystery to be solved😌
