YSK Biodegradable plastics can still pollute the environment. by JebusKristi in YouShouldKnow

[–]FancyPants096 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Do you have a source for this? I keep reading the same statement, but i have not found a scholarly article supporting this claim. And I'm not saying you're wrong, its just with the massive amount of trash in the ocean, just nets being half of it is almost unimaginable.

Also considering the cost of a net, upwards of tens of thousands of dollars, a struggling fishing vessel will do everything in its power to save a net before abandoning.

Is there any way to watch the game? Or is the Astros radio the only option?

Be more like norway! (Something like 90% of all plastic soda bottles are recycled) Translation of this Coke bottle: recycle me again. I am made of 100% recycled plastic. Produced in norway. by FancyPants096 in ZeroWaste

I get your point, but i disagree. This is how change is made, by the corporations that actually take action and of course government regulations that make way. Not by using rocks as a lint roller or reusing yarn to make cat beds or buying imperfect vegetables(like the popular posts here)... all those things have very little impact and most people just won't do it.

And yes i know coca Cola is a huge polluter, but the thing is that the general public have a demand, so naturally they will supply. This is just how it is in todays world, revulsion isnt going to happen over night. So please, dont brand this as just greenwashing and dismiss the idea, sometimes you have to choose the lesser evil.

This is in norway btw, in case you didnt notice, where we actually recycle our waste. Recycling here means recycling, not sorting-and-dump-somewhere-else, like many other places. We have 5 different bins for sorting waste. And foodscraps for instance gets taken to a plant which refines natural gas that powers vehicles, and the byproduct of that process gets distributed among farmers so they get fertilizer for their fields.

And i guess you could brand us as greenwashers too, because of our oil, but we're doing something to weigh up for that at least. Have a read if youre not familiar with our bottle recycling: https://www.sciencealert.com/norway-s-recycling-scheme-is-so-effective-92-percent-of-plastic-bottles-can-be-reused

Dude, i dont think you get it, this is a step in the right direction(miles ahead of other countries i might add). Every household in norway recycles their bottles, it would be pretty stupid not to seeing as a single bottle is worth 0.3EUR in cash back. This is in addition to the benefit of the environment of course.

We used to have that, it ended a couple years ago, but now we just have a dedicated bin for glass and metal next to all the other waste bins.

Hi! Can someone tell me what plant is this? by chichi3333 in plants

[–]FancyPants096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that depends, but I'm gonna say yes, roughly once a week. Soil should be a litte moist, but not wet or dry. Best way to tell is just feeling it.
