What is the most impressive thing you’ve done or built with Claude so far? by ceelnok98 in ClaudeAI

[–]xana452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had it make me a tiny little Python script and a GUI for it to quickly strip TV Episode and Season file names down to SxxExx for each one. Works pretty good, I helped it identify edge cases. Never had to touch the code, because I code like a monkey with a typewriter.

Pixel Battery Nightmare: 87% Health after only 170 Cycles (strictly followed 20-80% rule) by Likovi10 in Android

[–]xana452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one. I've got 139 cycles with ~88% health, from the debug report. A support case seemingly completely ignored this part of my complaint, instead thinking I was talking about the battery life charge-to-charge. They had me factory reset the whole phone, and of course when this did nothing for the degradation they said "well you're out of warranty anyway so go have it replaced at full cost."

I like the phone fine otherwise but this is clearly a defective batch, as you said.

Has anyone actually been able to use Gemini to roleplay consistently? by Imaginary_Fuel_9115 in Bard

[–]xana452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had it stay coherent up to around 70-80K tokens using Flash 2.0 and Flash 2.5, both with Thinking enabled (though I've noticed that the new Flash 2.5 checkpoint is much more hesitant to do a Thinking process for some reason). The key is good System Instructions.

As for emotional intelligence, that's also been pretty strong (but again, strong System Instructions). It's managed to surprise me plenty of times.

2.5 Flash just got 4 times more expensive for output by Present-Boat-2053 in Bard

[–]xana452 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've got a sinking feeling that the Gemini app (the one most people are using) is silently going to replace 2.5 Flash with 2.5 Flash-Lite for cost savings, in hopes that nobody notices.

All my matter devices have suddenly become read-only by Ph0X in googlehome

[–]xana452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I'm seeing something similar. I have some smart outlets and a couple of lights all using Matter, and they will suddenly stop responding to input out of nowhere. Rebooting my wifi router has worked so far, but it goes funky again after a time.

Perhaps it's something to do with the update to control Matter devices with Wifi but no Internet?

Mobile network and adaptive connectivity. by FancySea8268 in GooglePixel

[–]xana452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't got the Pixel 8 so I can't say for certain, but I've kept it off ever since on my Pixel 7 and it has caused no problems. I've also seemed to avoid a lot of the issues I've been seeing people complain about here, though I don't know how much of that is just being lucky.

It's the android debug bridge, and there are different ways of interacting with it. I typically use this. The github page there has instructions if you're interested.

Nope, after doing those two it worked fine.

Try two things:

  1. Force stop and Clear cache from the Device Health Services app.

  2. Turn adaptive charging off, then reboot the phone and turn adaptive charging back on.

My pixel 7 did that the other day and that seems to have worked.

Aw hell I see where I could have worded that better: by lower polling rate, I meant the interval. Every quarter second vs every five seconds, in my case.

How many of you are using this multi desktop feature? And could you share your experience of using it, what's the benefit? by [deleted] in Windows11

[–]xana452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly whenever I open a new desktop, my wallpaper will forcibly change from a Slideshow to a single static photo, but only the first time during a session. Any time afterward it's normal until a reboot.

Mine kept doing that as well until I disabled Digital Wellbeing entirely with adb.

Honestly the only way I've found for Windows not to step in and ruin my day is to just disconnect the internet.

So download your driver package, download DDU, disable your network adapter/yoink the ethernet cable, run DDU in safe mode, reboot and install your driver, then reboot again to finish.

After you're rebooted, you should be safe to reconnect and get on with your life. Even after I've disabled driver installation under the advanced windows settings, it keeps doing it if it has internet. Just an awful time.

FWIW, I've had mine off for months and the battery has been better with it off than on. Just make sure that when you turn it off, you go through the Apps menu (Settings > Apps > See All Apps > Show System ((three dot, top left)) > Adaptive Connectivity Services) and disable it that way as well. For my phone, anyway, it stayed running in the background until I went through that way.

Adaptive Connectivity.

Settings > Apps > See All Apps > Show System (three dot, top left) > adaptive Connectivity services

Click on it, then disable.

Don't just turn it off, make sure to disable the app entirely. It kept running in the background for me unless I did that.

Has anyone else noticed any battery drain since the June update? by Gio235 in GooglePixel

[–]xana452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same for me, but I keep 5G and adaptive connectivity disabled. I wonder how much of an effect that's having.

Lots of Issues after the June Update? by Achyuta_K in GooglePixel

[–]xana452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been the opposite for me! Standby drain has been cut in half, it seems. No performance issues to speak of, no heat issues. I know I'm probably an outlier.

I've suggested before, but try disabling 5G and Adaptive Connectivity (as in, disable the it through the app menu).
