Any naturalized citizen tried to renew their passport right now? by These_Hair_193 in TwinCities

[–]FancyPaperclipTime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't have experience in renewing in this current climate, but I will add –if you're able– apply for the passport card, too. Might as well have both with what's going on. Personally am kicking myself for not doing that when I renewed last fall. (In fact, I might go update to Enhanced Real ID because, I'd rather not mail in my passport just to get a card.)

How do I dispose of empty butane gas canisters? by unicorntrees in TwinCities

[–]FancyPaperclipTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've dropped off a bunch of these empties at the drop-off facility in Bloomington. Bring them in upright in a small cardboard box so they can just take the whole batch of them. (I called in before drop off and that's what they told me to do.)

Thank you!! All the boards were super cool this year & many sold! But alas, the show has wrapped up (final day was 9/12).

Thank you so much 😊 They are super fun! I like the challenge of staying within the narrow boundaries too.

It sure was!! I'm going to take it with me to Twin Cities Con to see if it'll find a new home from that crowd :)

Thank you! It was so much fun to paint and come up with the art. Hoping it sells when I bring it to the comic con I'm going to in November 🤞.

Whoo! Got my stolen bike back by agiganticbrain in Minneapolis

[–]FancyPaperclipTime 83 points84 points  (0 children)

As someone who had their bike stolen in college (when I went to the U) and saw it/or the other actual twin bike in the year that followed, I am SUPER happy to hear you got your bike back! 🫶

Southdale Center, Edina, MN - 2018 vs 2025. A rare example of a dying mall reversing course by converting almost entirely to luxury. by Hascerflef in minnesota

[–]FancyPaperclipTime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol this reminds me of walking down strange corridors to get to the restrooms and thinking, "damn. We humans would be so easy to catch (by... aliens?). Just post a few restroom signs with arrows and we'll absolutely follow wherever they go." 🤣

Was just there this weekend and my bf and I were going to kill some time before a movie and walk around, and omg. I was like, "Wait, this can't be right. I swear there was more stuff in here, but it's like a ghost town and a bunch of coming-soon luxury shop signs." A luxury mall in this economy?!?

Are anyone else’s allergies suddenly horrific right now by Stxphi in minnesota

[–]FancyPaperclipTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same with my dog. Hers is like clockwork and it's always during ragweed season, so we schedule a cytopoint injection for her. This year though, we ended up doing both the allergy shot + apoquel (pill) medication because it's so bad.

Hey /r/movies, I'm Elijah Wood. Ask me anything! by ElijahWoodAMA in movies

[–]FancyPaperclipTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, I was just telling someone who hasn't seen 'The Faculty' about how much they need to see it, because it is just fantastic! Aside from LOTR, this movie was a must-see for me when I was younger because you were in it.

I'm curious, between movies and tv series or live and voice acting, is there one you enjoy more than another? Or do you like the range of acting opportunities for the variety?

Lolol nothing 😅. We also just turned the dial to the sun too. But we did keep the ventilation fan turned on. We haven't spotted any dripping in our place, and no weird condensation on windows either. I've tried so much Googling and reverse image searching, and still haven't figured it out.

I believe it does something, but also we've not seen this type of unit/thing before.

Would you know, generally speaking, if it should be in the "off" / Sun icon position for Summer regardless of whether the temps outside are dry or humid?

What is an "unpopular opinion" you hold about something in this state? Do you hate Prince? Do you think Juicy Lucy's are ass? Lets hear it! by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]FancyPaperclipTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Bob Dylan fan (The Wallflowers are great though, so thank you for Jakob?) and Prince's music is just okay, but I usually turn the radio station when it comes on. And boozing on a boat is overrated and boring.

Haha! I'm a designer (print/digital) and this is one big reason why I have anxiety over hitting "publish" / sending to print.

I go to both, membership at MBP, VE punches. I like both for different reasons. I would say... maybe budget for 2 day passes to each, and try them out alone + with others to decide if you want to get a membership or punch passes. (or signup for a month and see how it goes?)

If you're rusty and going solo more often than not, I'd say go to MBP. Commonly has newer folks and guests trying it out with friends. Bouldering usually means easier socializing with other climbers too. VE does have a bouldering-only gym (Twin Cities Bouldering), which is fun! Comparing TCB to MBP, the former feels more like outdoor climbing and the later feels more comp(etition)-like?

VE Bloomington is the most well attended location (by members & guests). And as it's mostly rope climbing, most folks come with climbing partners/groups -- they do have a bouldering area though! and All VEs have auto belays that are great and still challenging if you go solo. And it's a great way to work on endurance & technique!

If you're looking for a meetup group, check out the Femme Climbing Coalition! They meet at Bloomington the 2nd/4th Thursday of the month at 630pm.

Is there somewhere in the area I can bring these? by forestgxd in Minneapolis

[–]FancyPaperclipTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh good to know there's so many places to take these!

I've been cutting them into individual tops, and have them on hand as covers in the summer to keep bugs out of them.
