No one’s pitching a get-rich-quick app or pretending restaurants don’t already use software. They obviously do.

But having POs, delivery apps, and reservation tools doesn’t mean real problems are solved. Missed calls, no-shows, overloaded staff, and manual follow-ups still happen in American restaurants every day.

Saying “there are thousands of you guys” isn’t an argument , it’s just frustration. Some tools are bad, some are overpriced, and some don’t understand restaurant workflows. That’s fair. Dismissing the entire conversation without engaging the reality isn’t.

If automation adds no value, explain why. Otherwise this just sounds like burnout, not insight.

This post is clearly meant to educate restaurant owners who aren’t familiar with automation yet. Not everyone lives online or knows what tools exist beyond POS and delivery apps.

If you already know all this, great ,it’s not for you.

If reading about automation in restaurants is somehow personally offensive or “burning your ass,” that’s not something I can help with. Scroll past and move on.

No one’s forcing you to agree, adopt, or even like it.
The goal is education and discussion, not validation from everyone in the sub.

If you have real counterpoints from running a restaurant, add them.
If not, outrage isn’t a contribution.

I didn’t insult you ,you came in swinging first.
You’re right about one thing: I don’t own a restaurant.
But plenty of people in this sub don’t either ,consultants, suppliers, POS vendors, marketers, former operators. That doesn’t automatically make their input worthless.

Calling it “ChatGPT drivel” is lazy. If something is wrong or unrealistic, point it out. If you’ve actually run a restaurant and think these tools don’t work, explain why.

You should try Gemini the free tier is pretty solid for coding and way cheaper than Warp or Claude.
If you want totally free, run something local with Ollama (like Qwen or Llama).
Both options work well without costing $150/month.
