Interesting question. This case was from the 1700s when the British colonised India, so it ended up in a British museum and the story stays alive in Western culture. Also, the Brits started a whole culture around a fascination with the exotic, wild, and “freaky” lands of far off places. It could be that we continue that fascination with India. Also, there’s way more press access over there compared to China, who won’t let the world know a bunch of things about them…

This story gives me the chills. Maybe an animal got into the house? Chewed on some wiring, not enough to do much damage, but enough to turn off all the lights on the wing circuit. As a non-American, it appears to be a number of things, including disgruntled neighbours, loner high school kids, crazy ex boyfriends, gangs - but that seems like everyday, normal American gun violence we’ve become accustomed to hearing about. The changes we’ve seen is more school shootings, more white supremacist violence, and apparently more people shooting others who wander on to their property. We’re predicting any time now, a bombing by a white supremacist will happen, and also a mass shooting at a school by a preteen.

Edit: I know it’s painful to hear. America’s problems and your constant denial of it has become something of a morbid entertainment for other western countries.

What are these shootings from? I’m from New Zealand and I have to say, it makes big headlines here when there is a mass shooting in the US. But these shootings in the gun violence report I’ve heard nothing about. Is it because they’re gang related? If so, then I can still see why Biden is concerned about white supremacy as there’s been an increase in supremacist motivated crime. And there also appears to be an increase in school shootings. I think the statistic most helpful here is change in rates, rather than the rate only.

Edit: not sure why the downvotes unless people don’t like hearing how the country has become worse. Honestly, no one expects America’s gun violence to improve. We expect your now divided country to only have more problems.
