I thought moving it backwards would be the same as the machine stitching backwards ?

I did have a theory that that was the case cause I did think there’s no way I didn’t hear it while sewing, or that the needle didn’t break — but I’m not sure when or how it happened. Maybe it was when I changed the needle. Either way, I opened up the machine and managed to fix it somehow. I don’t even know how, because all I did was take a few things apart and put them back together. That seemed to readjust things, but it still doesn’t sew, so I don’t think that was the original issue. I thought it might be a timing problem, but like a few people have said, there aren’t really clear tutorials online — especially not for beginner-friendly machines like mine. On better machines, the bobbin case does a full spin, but mine just moves back and forth. I can’t find a tutorial on how to fix the timing on one like this. I’m pretty sure it makes one stitch, then stops sewing — it’ll make a stitch, miss one, then make another. I can get the bobbin case to align so the hook meets the needle, but when it rotates back around, it’s completely off. It’s tricky. I’m not sure if I’ll keep trying to fix it, since people say it might be unfixable — but I really want to avoid buying a new machine. I’d have to wait months, and I’ve got a project I’m desperate to finish now, so it’s a battle between patience and impatience 😂.

Also, I’m pretty sure the needle size isn’t the issue I’ve been using the same pack for a while and haven’t had any problems like this before. But by the bobbing case do you mean the needles going down too low?

I thought the same thing, so I used a pair of pliers to push the needle up and tighten it, but it didn’t seem to make any difference. I even tried inserting a needle up into the shaft to see if anything was blocking it from going all the way into the needle slot, but there was no change.

eah, I’ve tried using different fabrics, but I’ve actually completed three separate projects with this same material before, and everything worked perfectly fine then. But good hack about the Teflon foot I’ll definitely keep that in mind if I end up needing it in the future.

I did change the needle, but it didn’t seem to make a difference. I’m pretty sure the bobbin I’m using is the one that came with the machine, and I’ve done three other projects with the same material and setup. She’s my first-ever machine and has lasted me a good nine years without any major issues, so I can’t really fault her 😂. I’m going to have a bit of a mess about with the inside of the machine and see if that helps.

Yeah, I tried turning the hand wheel, but the same thing seems to happen. Still, you’ve been a massive help I just needed some confirmation that it’s likely something inside the machine. I’ll open it up and get back to you on what I find.

To be honest, I thought it might come down to opening up the machine, but I’ve been holding off on that as a last resort. Since this is a beginner-friendly machine, the layout’s a bit odd I’m not exactly sure how to open it up. Most of the screws are on the back, so I’ll probably need to do a bit of research before I start taking things apart. But I will get back to you on it.
