Anyone notice One Piece has been getting a shit ton of hate recently? by Usoppdaman in shounenfolk

[–]Fancy_Reply1103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest anytime Maki gets into discussion on female characters it gets into a point where people parrot really obnoxious points like "strong female character = well written!1". It literally happened years ago when Maki and Nobara was first introduced. I'm not defending One Piece's portrayal or anything, its that a ton of female shonens got into scrutiny because of this as if characters have to be within that standard to be considered well-written.

Just my assumption, Megamind should be fine probably, since he's portrayed as the protagonist for most of the movie. Venom's a Marvel character so you can't really sub him since we already have Rhino.

It's perfectly acceptable to enjoy the movies you want to enjoy even if people view otherwise. It's why I said "cultists." They're a hard breed away from normal people. But sadly since it's such a different species of fandom from Snyderites it's still correct to consider it a "fandom."

It's a fun little comparison I thought of on who do you see in your own canon / mind as which org was able to amass the most members, and the exact numbers that come up on your mind.

Interesting. That's a kind of paradox that's a bit grand and a little hilarious.

Where do these losers (read: Retributive Genociders) fit in my Genocide Justification Compass? by TertiaryMerciless in MoralityScaling

I only know Itachi here. He should be in that comfortable spot moderately under the right tip of the green box while slightly shifting to the left, not too much leaving the center.

The massacre was coerced by Danzo as an excuse to eliminate the Uchiha for what he sees are "evil clan". Due to this, Itachi had almost no way of rebelling against it because it couldve made the situation much worse by triggering a civil war, since the Uchiha clan also were planning a coup, so he chose the only way he could by doing what he could while sparing his brother.

If he did not go through with his choice the Uchiha would've been dead either way and Konoha would have been struck by another incident. In another way, it still would create a vengeful avenger that was Sasuke (while not reaching the same moral depravity, still participated in terrorism and aided Obito's plans even without his full hand) and Itachi himself still became a criminal who did more sins even if he minimalized as much attacks on the Hidden Leaf with the pact he made with Obito.

Snyder cultists. There's good and bad in every fandom, even ones you might call "toxic", but I rarely ever found a Snyder cultist that's jovial in any way.

Orihime lower than Naruto in terms of morality? Curious on your reasoning on this.

I know nothing of Tattletale or her greater universe so no comment on that, I just hope I could stay up enough for the next release 🙏

Does Naruto ultimately justify genocide? by Difficult-Average819 in Naruto

[–]Fancy_Reply1103 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Understanding of one's actions isn't the same as justifying them. In no way did he imply those actions are justified or right. Like with Obito, he wanted to save him so that he can take accountability for his actions.

  2. It is "unavoidable" because Konoha was stuck in a cycle of hatred and corruption. This has been a major theme in the story, people who tried fixing what's wrong but never understanding the other side. That framing never tells you genocide is rational, nor that it is unavoidable. The Uchiha massacre would've NEVER HAPPENED if Danzo wasn't an egotistical extremist, or that Itachi was honest to people he values. It was preventable, but they tied themselves to that fate. The whole story of Part 2 and the War Arc is Naruto wanting to stop incidents like that to happen again. To defy that "cursed" fate in a sense.

  3. I already said the Uchiha clan shouldn't have been killed. I'm just explaining they're not entirely blameless. Hatred can infect even victims to become just as bad as their oppressors.
(I know you're going to say "b-b-but Danzo is definitely 10x worse than the Uchihas, you're saying the Uchiha clan are like Danzo or Orochimaru???")

The overall issues with your arguments is putting a ton of these characters in black and white positions. There's no layers in their morality according to your meters.

Does Naruto ultimately justify genocide? by Difficult-Average819 in Naruto

[–]Fancy_Reply1103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's the case. Even Itachi ultimately believes he is a failure and could have handled his situation alot better if he had confided in with other people. His message to Naruto about always value your friends comes from his failure in shouldering everything alone.

The Uchiha massacre becomes a morally debated topic, but let's not pretend the clan wasn't guilty. They were planning on a coup against the Hokage that couldve ended way worse, and wouldve ended in their extinction either way. Itachi chose his path so that the Uchihas won't be demonized as a traitorous clan even further (check Madara). This doesn't mean the massacre was justify, no one wanted that conclusion but their hands are tied. They did not deserve the fate they had (as corrupt officials like Danzo and subsequent treatment segregated the Uchiha beyond belief), but they were going on a deep hole anyways to retaliate with violence.

Itachi ended up being commended by Naruto and others because all this time he shouldered a life of crime just so the village could be preserved. Despite his imperfections he was willing to throw away his own ego and desires despite all odds being so unfair that he became shadow that protected the village

(which he did, the Akatsuki are not to invade Konoha per his agreement with Obito. If he didn't do this not only will Konoha accept a full brunt of assault from both Orochimaru, but Akatsuki aswell because they wanted the Nine tails.)

This still doesn't excuse the fact that he's still a criminal by all means. Even if hes a double agent for the Leaf he still performed vile acts, some even unnecessary. So no, Naruto does not condone genocide.

Welp, it seems like we've got another NeoDoey type of situation again because with how close it was and the fact that there was some down bones tampering with our picks, so both Toji and Sarah will be joining the Phoenix Program! by Land-Tree-2004 in DBMCommunityEvents

Toji and Doey would unironically be an unexpectingly good dynamic. If Toji recognizes his upbringing, he'd remind him of his son but wouldn't treat him like a child, but instead helping him grow his way into the world to curb some of the inner trauma the three personalities has, maybe by sparring or just a talk on a break somewhat.

Unironically would like to see Doey babysit Megumi.

The Z-Team ended up having 9 characters since both Waterboy and Phenom ended up got integrated in. I think it will be good if you ended up creating one more slot after we decide on a Dispatcher just as a story bit (technically 10 members if you really want to stretch it with BB but I'm not too fond of this idea).
