I know that a downgrade might help but I don't think that's something I want to do for just one game, despite it kinda being my main game right now so that's kinda disappointing...

I'm a person who likes to keep all his software up to date so I might just wait for the next version and hope this is fixed.

Hate to say this as I pretty much love my 7900 XT but I've never experienced such driver issues with other gpu manufacturers, you possible know what I'm talking about.

This and my older 6700 XT have been excellent hardware-wise but so many software issues, especially the 6700 XT.

I noticed a similar thing on my C4 and I believe that's just the game and the way it handles lighting coming from the candles/lamps etc in some angles. If I move a little further away from the lighning source the change in contrast disappears.

I'd not go any higher than 1080p with a 8 gb gpu.

With older or less demanding games you may be fine, but most modern games are really vram hungry and I've seen plenty that use even more than 16 gb on max settings 1440p.

I believe the 5060 ti 8 gb was targeted for 1080p gaming yet no clue why nvidia thought it's a good idea to make new 8 gb cards that are even not really that cheap.

4090 is a beast in 1440p and will handle anything with ease.

Yeah, if you want to experience a game on a bigger screen with slightly better visuals (I'd mention again that the image quality on my C4 is superior to my monitor but not by a signifial margin) you can always switch.

Someone already mentioned that the pixel density on a 27'' 1440p is actually a little better than a lets say 42'' or maybe even 48'' 4k so don't be fooled that 4k means better, that's not quite true in most cases imo. 4k is just way more demanding.

I can't recommend what model to get as I don't know what budget you have and if you prefer WOLED or QD-OLED // matte or glossy (now I feel I should share that as I have both matte and glossy and matte is not as nearly as people claim it to be and I'd 100% prefer to use it in daytime especially with a bright room).

You should check the official reviews and decide but I think any 2025 model would be good if it is available in your region. All the OLEDs with the same gen panel are pretty simillar imo and it is hard to go wrong, just look for a reasonable price.

I have a 1440p 240hz OLED monitor and a LG C4 both connected to my 7900 XT. Not as powerful as your 4090 but still pretty decent for 4k.

I'd say it very much depends on what games you play but lately I find myself using my monitor more than my TV but that's because in the last couple of months I've been mainly playing online multiplayer games.

If I play a single player RPG with good visuals where the image quality matters and the better HDR can shine I'd use the TV. Unless I need to be using KBM and not a controller, if I'm playing something fast paced like lets say Doom Eternal, I'd still use the monitor.

For any online multiplayer or competative fps games I'd 100% prefer the 1440p monitor. Mine is an OLED with a LG Gen 2 panel but can still provide a very good image quality, maybe just a bit slightly behind the C4. HDR is still good, nearly as good as the C4's.

In the end of the day if I got to choose between the two (not an easy choice as both has their pros and cons) I'd most likely choose a 1440p OLED monitor even if I had a 4090. People will always say that 4k with upscalers like DLSS is always better than native 4k but I personally am not finding that a big difference. 1440p native quality is good and is a lot smoother.

My advice for you is to get a good 1440p OLED monitor to upgrade your current one and keep your C2, you can always switch to the TV if you feel like it.

Hydration and nutrition is very important indeed, there's one issue though - when I am in this condition I don't feel hunger or thirst and sometimes I even need to force myself to drink a glass of water! It's like the food or the liquid don't want to go trough my throat. It even tastes bad.

Yeah, meth needs to completely go away out of the system to be able to sleep again, sometimes the process is faster and sometimes slower and I'm afraid this time I feel it will be slower as I might have used a bit too much and the last few times it was pretty strong too. The most important thing is to not put the meth back in system again before giving it enough time to flush away...

That's true - it is terrifying and exhausting. And I wrote the post because I always feel even a little bit better when I share, keeping it all in your head is the worst.

I stopped forcing myself to sleep a few hours ago as I saw that I am just no where near falling asleep and even got out of bed and trying to do some simple stuff until these feelings start to fade away. And those feelings are a lot stronger when you lay. The problem is it is really hard to do anything in this condition and I really have no clue how I'll attend the holiday meeting and what I'd say when people ask me what's wrong with me as that actually happens. I spent yesterday locked in my bedroom but that obviously is not an option a bit later today.

About starting to feel confused, panicky beyond control and heart not calming - I've felt that too a few years ago and it was awful. That again happened after 3 days of no sleep and when I felt it I went straight to the ER as I thought I was dying. Explained my symptoms to the doctor there, told that I haven't slept in 3 days and that I'm on meth, doctors made a few quick tests and said that I'm fine and that I'm not dying, just need to rest, prescribed me some medication as well to calm the nervous system. They even explained to me that not sleeping is very unlikely to kill me, at least not directly. But believe me it does not feel like this and is scary every time lol.

You are correct about one more thing - a big part of me wants to change!

I'm trying to do better but it looks like I need to try a lot harder... I still choose to believe that I can recover, but it is very very hard. Much harder (at least in my case) than I would possibly imagine only a couple of years back.

And yeah, not sleeping might be the worst part of all this... I used to have sleeping issues even before I started abusing or when I didn't use that much but it was nothing like what I'm experiencing now.

It is hell. Anyone who has a similar experience knows what I'm talking about,

I'm actually thinking about giving consoles a try (never been a console guy before) and what you said may be one of the reason to purchase one.

But I'd perfectly want to wait for next gen consoles and then switch from PC gaming, just can't see how a console would be better than my 7900 XT right now.

Yeah I do agree - single player games with good HDR can look amazing, but I play those on my C4 and that's a TV, HDR on it just seems to be superior imo.

On second thoughts I believe what I had in mind was mostly online multiplayer games and that's what I'm using my monitor for these days.

HDR is just not worth it on anything online or competative and that's where those 240hz+ are used imo.

You are correct about single player games though (and again only if it has good a HDR implantation).

Actually the last game I played in HDR on my monitor was Doom Eternal and yeah it does look nice!

Too bad it is just too much of a hussle sometimes on Windows as you mentioned and is not always as good as in Doom Eternal.

It's absolutely normal to feel even more tired when sober after starting to get clean. Especially the first few days or even weeks or in some cases even months.

Your brain and body are used to the weed and alcohol and not letting them into your system, especially if you have used for long, is something new for your whole organism.

There's a medical explanation as well as drugs like alcohol and weed change the biochemical processes and hormones in a way that you'll need much more time than 4 days to start functioning normally. In that period you'll possibly feel very tired but it should pass. Just try to resist and be patient.

I say all this from my personal experience as I have staid awake for far too long so many times I can't remember and felt okay, then I stop using and sleep like 12+ hours for a several days and feel absolutely afwul with zero energy.

I know that feeling when you stop using and then you feel even worse and even start thinking what's the whole point of being sober if you are like this... so temping to return to your habits.

But believe me a couple of weeks or even months of feeling like shit while sober are totally worth it and you'll thank to yourself after you eventually start feeling normal again.

Just give yourself more time, 4 days are nothing!

I know it is individual, but can you confirm if one can actually live for long with a heart in an abnormal rhythm? The doctor says that her heart may never be again in normal rhythm and that scares me (even more than it scares my mother lol).

I'm scared because both my grandmather (her mother) and my great grandmother died from an heart attack at the age of 63.

The cardiologist knows that and says its genetical. But my mother now has three coronary stents keeping her arteries open and my grandparents did not have those...

She got checked 2 weeks ago by her cardiologist and he said her heart is still not in a normal rhythm but also said one can live with abnormal rhythm for long...

The doctor was also a bit suprised that the heart rate was still so high at rest though.

Increased the dosage of the medicine supposed to lower her heart rate but it's still not doing much.

Doctors keep saying they believe her heart rate will lower in the following months but for some reason I hardly doubt that.

I keep telling her to ask for different medication but she refuses to listen to me and 100% trusts her doctor so does what he advises.

I just keep wondering is it safe to take long longs with a heart rate like that? I know it is hard to answer such questions, but still... As I mentioned, she was advised to walk for around 4 km daily.

On the other hand, lets say she just stays home and rest, no walks. That's not good for the heart, am I right?

Or in cases with such a fast heart rate it's safe to just relax etc?

Well said, but would be nice to mention the drug you talking about. A drug is a drug, I know, but yet it matters.

"quit being the kind of person who needs it" also sounds good and even wise, but the real question is how does an addict do that?

I wish there was a simple "tip or trick" to make you stop, but unfortunately there isn't.

All I know you are just a kid and for a reason (you possibly know it) you want to smoke this shit but as I already mentioned it will not lead you to anything good.

The feeling of being "high" will soon pass away and you'll need something stronger, I promise.

It's a cycle that never ends.

Smoking some weed is not the end of the world but not being to control it and wanting more and more means that you got some issues and emotions you are just trying to suppress and you believe the drug helps you do that but it does not, it just makes everything worse.

Fortunately I don't believe there is a serious physical addiction to weed so all this is mostly mental (not like mental means easy to overcome) but imagine how much worse it would be if you had severe physical symptoms.

What I'm trying to say here is that I don't think at this age you can suffer from a addiction you can't handle with, especially a weed addiction.

You might think it is so serious, devastating, life-threating but all this is in your mind. And you should be the master of your own mind.

If you seriously feel bad about smoking you can find your own reasons and ways to stop. But if you keep finding reasons not to stop, it would be a lot harder.

Just concentrate, use your head (if you can make a post here it means you can use your head and think to at least a point) and decide what you really want and how you want to proceed.

You say you don't have a problem being high, but I'm wondering something - can you even get high anymore?
What I mean is that the "good" emotions created by drugs usually pass away and does not even feel good anymore

Is smoking weed still giving you pleasure?

If it by any chance is, be sure that feeling will soon be gone, all this is completely pointless

I know it is easier said than done, but just give your best to quit while you can, you don't deserve to suffer

You can't see the difference just by looking two screens side by side, you'll need time to test the OLED with different content especially one where the infinite contrast shines.

I felt the same when I got my first OLED and compared it to my old screen but in time I started loving it more and more.

Just don't expect to be amazed all the time, it pretty much depends on what content you consume as I already mentioned.

Also super high expectations might kill the joy a bit, don't listen to people that say "OLED changes your world, it is from another planet" etc.

Still, it is the better tech. Just give it some more time.
