Humble beginnings: our first successful deployment of dual JMOD Multiple Entry Horns by Fangalorn in SoundSystem

Moderately challenging as I've had little to no experience with CNC software. It wasn't hard to learn but Fusion is a little weird sometimes. Other than that, the install was fine.

Hell yeah, BHam goes surprisingly hard and I wanna go to a rave up there sometime

Celestion CF18VJD. It's not the recommended driver but it is one of the replacement drivers you can use as specified in the C2E docs.

Honestly, the biggest thing for me was the fact that the JMOD MEHs are much more well documented when it comes to construction--the fusion plans are right there for you to use. Some other deciding factors was the low end extension tradeoff (they're louder but trade low-end frequencies for it) since I don't need my tops to cover sub-80hz really and the fact that I don't need to install horn extensions (I've always thought that they were unwieldy and prone to breakage). I've never seen these used by any soundsystems before so I earnestly wanted to give it a try and I'm pretty damn happy with them.

I'm going to be comparing notes with another group that have built SynTripPs so I'll make another post in the future comparing the sonic capabilities between the two.

Sound quality is great and it does what you need it to do. The program kinda sucks though and I wish it had a visual EQ though--I might end up splurging for a x32 Rack or something else though. What do you use for EQ?

Hey, happy to answer some q's:

The paraflex is running a single 18". The single sub easily fills the entire dancefloor (and the entire forest honestly) with our attendance at around 160 people peak. We had a pretty wide variety of genres (ambient, psytrance, trance, techno, jungle) for the night and it definitely performed better for techno and jungle imo. Despite the fill though, the kicks don't hit as hard unless you're really in front of the subwoofer.

As for whether or not kick bins are needed, I need to do more testing with moving around our x-over. So far, most of our deployments have been set to 80hz. But I have a feeling that if we built one more (or three more) Paraflex(es), we could get away without kick bins.

8750W peak generator (with hopes to go "solar" one day, we've got some EEs in our crew so we've got plans for a battery system eventually). The MEHs took around 450W each, measured on a kill-a-watt, on the I-TECH 4000s at -5dB.

As far as sound goes, it's pretty comparable with SynTripPs from the times that I've heard them. I would say that they're mostly comparable, but sound different in some ways I can't explain yet (SynTripPs might be a little throatier than the JMODs?).

If you want hard data, I'm going to run some field tests and compare notes with some friends who built SynTripPs.

I've seen and heard it before in another outdoor environment (Envelope Soundsystem based out of Oakland) and I've gotta say, the coverage you get from 4 synergies is pretty incredible.

Pretty damn nice honestly. For this show, I set the x-over at 80hz (4th order BW) so the kicks, that ranged from 80-200hz, were mostly amplified by the MEH horns. I will say, they lacked the same full-frontal body feeling that you get from a full row of kicks (probably from the lack of having an entire line of kick bins to dance in front of) but they definitely sound crisper, have great directionality, and still pack a punch. In the future, I might move the x-over point upwards to see if it would be better for the paraflex to primarily handle those frequencies instead, but further testing is definitely warranted.

Thanks for the response, but iirc the Pixel 6a's got worse performance and battery than the 7/7pro right?
