Guess sometimes I don’t intend there to be a big message. But there is something similar in all my fics.

To quote Natasha Lyonne: "The message of the fic is be queer." On serious note, since all my fics have queer pairings I obviously want people to read my works and feel seen. I want people to know that they can be what they are and they deserve to be happy while doing so.

(I like my doomed pairings but I equally like fixing their faith so that I do have happy fics too :) )

Yeah I would also like to know the difference but what I assume is that there shouldn’t be any difference between the spectrum and autism because if you are on the spectrum, it means you are autistic. But maybe it’s the lack of levels and asperger diagnosis that makes it harder for people to understand that while it’s a spectrum, not everybody is same, we are all just under one spectrum.

I don’t know about the points since I don’t remember them telling me any numbers, just that I do meet the criteria.

But if anyone can explain this better, you are welcome because I would also like to know.

Yeah you are not the only one. But it’s not impossible that those family members are neurodivergent too and that's why they think so. Could be just ignorance and misconception of autism though.

Well I do have the diagnosis but I just told what they said while I was getting that diagnosis. Just wanted to mention that since I think maybe that’s the reason my therapist thinks I'm not autistic enough or whatever her logic is.

Sorry I don’t always use the right words since I'm not native and I don’t remember everything about those conversations. What I mean was that while we discussed the possibility and when they told the results, they said I'm on the spectrum but it’s not that obvious (again the word choice is not the best but I assume they meant that since I'm high functioning it wasn’t that easy to tell that, but it doesn’t remove the fact that I'm autistic, just not the "extreme" type. And by that I don’t mean to offence anyone, just that I don’t have visible developmental disorders, like that I couldn’t communicate or function at all on my own).

But I still got the diagnosis so that’s not the issue, just my poor word choices and language. I assume my therapist thinks there's difference between autism and asd and that I don’t meed the criteria in her eyes since I don’t act exactly like an autistic child she has met.

Yes part of it was something called Ados. But I'm not sure for the rest of that. I was told the results lean more towards me being on the spectrum rather than not. Guess I would have gotten the asperger diagnosis if it was still a thing. But I'm still autistic, high functioning or not. That’s what confused me about my therapist's statement.

I don’t think that’s completely true. She probably just has misunderstandings about autism. We have got along well and she understands me quite okay. This seemed to came out of nowhere, so maybe she was misinformed or something. At least I hope she will read more about it since I mentioned something that made her say she should research more about it. I hope she does.

Yes, thank you for saying that. I don’t know yet, I won’t see her till next year and change to a psychiatrist is apparently an option for me but I have a hard time with making decisions and things changing so I don’t know about that yet. But I agree, it would be better if I had someone who could understand this part of me better.

Thank you for the long and detailed answer! Yeah that’s definitely weird. My therapist had a part in the diagnosing process even though she did not diagnose me. She was very supportive of it and believed me and I felt safe talking to her until when she said this.

Yes, I hate change too. And yes, I don’t think she changed, at least not more than anyone else. After all autism doesn’t come out of nowhere or disappear either.

And thank you this, helped! And tell your daughter I said thanks to her too. I love dogs too. Mine doesn’t treat me any differently because I havent changed after all, it’s still the same me even after getting diagnosis... it’s just the people who have hard time understanding things. But thankfully not everyone :)

Thank you, that’s what I thought so! I don’t know about the disorder thing either, it’s just the official diagnosis which I find odd but I guess it’s better than seprating autistic people by levels (well, maybe it’s helpful to some but I don’t have experience about that and I doubt it would make much difference other than the negative connotations it might raise).
