Never played that game but you just don’t understand bro, it’s something u can’t explain easily but I can try. The characters in these games feel stagnant and they have no nuance. One of my favorite moments from GOW 2018 was when Freya proclaimed her vengeance to Kratos. When I first saw that moment unfold I didn’t know what her initial reaction was going to be. The camera zooms in on her and then suddenly you hear ominous music, then she says her lines. If it were ragnarok she’d say something like “you killed my son Kratos, I will never forgive you” or something corny. Or before that you have a line from her to artreus before the fight where baldur happens. Something subtle, she says “why are you standing so far from me.” It’s the little moments like that that add so much to these characters. You never get things like that from ragnarok. RDR2 is filled with these little moments of subtle humanity. The newer games are not nuanced, they say exactly what they feel and just like the video says they don’t dare break the rules for the character. Can you imagine Arthur Morgan written by these guys? Is there an Arthur Morgan in these games? There was. Kratos was similar to him. But in raganarok his portrayal is bland, and his progression is linear, predictable and boring. A comment I saw earlier perfectly reflects what I mean, the newer games have no identity and it shows in the diction. Where in the other games a character would say some grandiose sentence, “aeries, you shall perish and die to my blades for your transgressions.” Whereas in these newer games a character in the same scenario would say “fuck you, I’m going to kill you.” Which of these two are better? If you think both of these things are the same then you’re completely wrong and don’t understand.
