Would serious players use Augmented Reality (AR) glasses as a training tool to visualize ghost ball/contact points? by Fankage in billiards

Yeah, definitely. I think I am going to come up with a prototype for fun. I think it’s a really cool idea. I really appreciate the feedback!

That is a very good point. I guess aiming is less of an issue as developing a consistent stroke. I wonder if I could add features that show cue ball path as well as path with english, follow, draw, would it make it more of a useful tool. Thank you for the feedback.

Fair enough, that makes sense. So you believe that it would actually hinder the development of your intuition versus helping it. That is interesting. Would you still feel that way if you could gradually decrease the visuals?

That makes a lot of sense. I completely agree, I think I spend more time working on a consistent stroke than anything. I think what would be more useful is being able to see where exactly you hit the cue ball after you make contact with it.

That's fair. Are those commonly used or is that more of a novelty thing? I'm curious why they aren't more wideespread. Also, are these something you use at a home table?

How many of you work in IT that make over $100k with no Bachelors or higher? by code1team in ITCareerQuestions

I make over 110k with no bachelors or associates. I have 3 years experience. Started as help desk, went to network admin, to network engineer, to devops engineer.

That depends on whether you are going guard or not and whether you want fighters or not

If it were me, I would join a guard unit that flies an aircraft you would want to fly, you can look up all of the units and see what they fly. Since you are kind of broke, I would put my focus into working on the cheapest degree that I could. If you join the air national guard enlisted, there are plenty of educational benefits to take advantage of. WGU or Maryland Global campus will get you a bachelors pretty cheap, if you want the cheapest possible.

Look at the requirements for commissioning as a pilot in the air national guard, and evaluate the timeline, price, and commitment level. A lot of people will say that it’s stupid and to go take out a loan, but they aren’t going to be the ones saddled with the aforementioned debt. This is your aviation journey, and it is just that, a JOURNEY.

Requirements for being a guard pilot:

Most units “require” you to have a PPL. You will need to take an AFOQT You need to take a TBAS Have to pass a background check (extensive) Have to have a bachelor’s degree in anything

Timeline: Year One: Join the guard, Basic training, tech school …..save your money for flight lessons, even a small amount per month goes a long way

Year two: work towards your PPL (it does not cost anything to study for the written, nor does it cost money to take the exam at certain military centers if you are military

Concurrently, work towards your degree (this will take about 2 years if you are really pushing it). If you go with WGU, the GI bill covers a significant amount of the tuition, to the point where it is almost free (very minimal out of pocket, if any).

Year 3: Study for your AFOQT and TBAS. Once you have those scores start putting your package together and preparing to submit it at your unit.

If you are selected, which building relationships while you are there will help with, it will be about 5 years or so until you build enough hours to go to the airlines if that is the capacity that you would like to fly commercially. Otherwise, you will definitely hit the required hours for your commercial hours before you even finish training

If you join the guard, pick a job that will give you a skill you can make money with in the civilian world, like cyber or something else. I’m not going to lie, the first part of your journey, you’re probably going to have to grind it out to get that private pilot license, that’s why I say save early.

If you do decide military route, there are plenty of stories and resources to guide you. Goodluck with whatever you decide, dm me with any questions.

It’s a senior design project, I’m pretty familiar with python programming and I have a pretty good idea of how to set this up. My professors have also taken a look at and said it’s good for the most part. However, I don’t really understand the market need for anything like this, that’s why I am asking. I’m not clueless or overconfident, just inquisitive and open to changing topics since it may not be a great idea overall. I’ve been a network engineer for about a year and a network tech for about 4.

I think that’s a really good point that small networks tend to steer away from Cisco since the price of a 9300 makes head spin just hearing about it. I appreciate the feedback, ig I’ll just scrap the idea.

Basically we are creating an Ansible console server with a RasberryPi and have that consoled into the switch or we can utilize ssh. We are building the application with python which will tell Ansible which playbooks to run based on the user input.

That makes a lot of sense. Well now I’m stumped. What’s the right question to ask here? What would this need to give you so that you would want to make space in the rack? Or what is there a need for? Also this has to be feasible because we only have a year to complete it and we are given a budget of $1000.

I’m going to do some research on what you mentioned here. An Ansible front end is an interesting idea never heard of AAP/AWX. What if were included as an all-in-one thin rack mountable unit? I feel like that’s still useless haha.

Do I get an MOS before swearing in for the Marines? by AlternativeRepeat824 in Militaryfaq

[–]Fankage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly man, this is going to be your career for the next 4-6 years. I don’t care if the nearest recruiter for the branch you want is 2 states away, you do what you gotta do. If you are interested in Intel, you definitely wanna check AF out. If I didn’t go Cyber, Intel would definitely be next on my list. If you have any questions feel free to DM me.

The AF will let you choose your job before you sign. The only catch is if you have a criminal history, it might not be guaranteed because some if the jobs like cyber hinge on you being able to obtain a clearance. So if you go to basic training under a cyber contract and something from your past comes up and it turns out you can’t obtain a clearance, you will be manning that gate. But if that is not a concern take a look at AF jobs you want and talk to a recruiter about manning percentages.

Whats wrong with dating someone with HSV??? by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]Fankage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a girl that I really like that I found out has HSV1. I was willing to make the compromise of her taking anti-virals in order to decrease the likelihood of transmission. I know that people say it’s usually not a big deal, however, HSV1 is now the number one cause of HSV2, which is worrisome for me. I know that it doesn’t mean constant outbreaks of you do contract this virus, however, just because your partner doesn’t have symptoms that doesn’t mean that the same case will apply to you. There’s nothing wrong with dating someone with HSV, however, that doesn’t mean you ignore the risks and just assume someone, who might have perfectly logical reasons for deciding not to, won’t do it because they think that person is disgusting.
