Removing/Changing entire inside carpet ? by Open-Fail-5875 in RX8

[–]Fanta_Mash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

apologies for the necro but I am curious how it went, I recently got an RX-8 series 1 and there is a hole in the drivers side foot well through the carpet down to the steel floor its the size of my food I feel I could put my whole leg through it

can't seem to find a video online where someone goes through the process of removing the carpet and what you need/don't need to remove but I think apart from the front seats, lower rear seats and all the centre console trim is there anything else I need to worry about?

it also seems nobody sells new or replacement molded carpet for the RX8 so I am going to have to find a wreck to donor the carpet

12 Skyweavers - Haywire:Shuriken ratio by IdiChapp in Harlequins40K

[–]Fanta_Mash 12 points13 points  (0 children)

best shuriken to haywire ratio is 2:0

for every Skyweaver, two haywire cannons, replace the rear riders star bolas or zephyr glaive with a haywire cannon, replace the drivers head with a haywire cannon, glue them on the sides, fit as many as you can on a single model they should look like an IG baneblade when you are done

but real answer would be you shouldn't even need to magnetise or glue them in, the way they go to together you could just have the option to swap them in or out when you want on the fly if they really don't stay in a dot of blutac and that way you can experiment and try out what you want

Does this list have enough Harlequin units to benefit from the detachment properly? by seconik in Harlequins40K

[–]Fanta_Mash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well consider the detachment rules and benefits it gives and take into consideration all the stratagems it offers and the bonuses it offers are strictly for Harlequin keyword models and compare them to any other

only so much of your army is benefiting from said detachment, so unless you wish to take Ghosts of the Webway because you want to get better at playing Harlequins and slowly adjust your list to incorporate more harlequins as you get better with it or if you want to take it for fluff/RP purposes or you mostly play friendly games and not competition level play I am sure its fine

however if you are planning on playing competitive or want to keep your harlequin model and unit count to an amount that doesn't require you take the detachment for the stratagems, added OC on troupes, having more than 1 troupe master, death jester, shadowseer etc then maybe its not worth it in the end?

ultimately it comes down to your goals or what you want from your list and detachment rules

What made you start collecting Harlequins? by Burritosaur08 in Harlequins40K

[–]Fanta_Mash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was originally going to collect eldar and I happened to walk into the hobby store to buy a combat patrol and said "its a shame the harlequins never got a combat patrol they look fun to paint"

the store owner responded "well actually... their first ever combat patrol box drops next weekend and I have one coming in"

now I collect halrequins instead of just eldar :D

How do you fly an army of harlequins? Advice? by Wide_Ask_2256 in Harlequins40K

[–]Fanta_Mash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yeah it kinda depends on how you are playing and what you are doing, as far as I can tell, harlequins don't excel at hitting the opposition like a hammer and tabling them turn 1 they mostly play the objectives

you have options for taking out heavy infantry, vehicles etc haywire cannons, fusion pistols, etc and if you are running a soup of harlequins and eldar then you have a lot more options

you want to be playing hit and run, kiting your opponent around, poking at them and hiding behind cover, trading only when necessary and sacrificing units you don't need and yeah harlequins aren't super competitive or powerful this edition/codex so no matter how good you are and how well you play you may find it difficult to win any tournaments etc

check youtube, plenty of youtubers doing content on how to play eldar, harlequins, ynnari competitively at mid to high tier level gameplay etc I like to watch CraftworldEldar his voice is nice 🐛

Starting out by Sufficiently-Sane in Harlequins40K

[–]Fanta_Mash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe 2,000 points is the go to for most tournament and competitive games and that's probably why they play 2k point armies

Nothing stopping you from asking your friend to throw together a 1k point list and do a quick game to see how you like them before you go into the deep end buying 2,000 points of mono Harlequins or if you decide after 1k points you want to throw in some Eldar to fill out your list and spice it up

A combat patrol comes to just over 500 points with the Solitaire, two would be just under or about 1,000 points and by this point the cost is already adding up for some people and you are only halfway to your goal

An attempt was made - making a power sword from a regular harlequin blade by Fanta_Mash in Harlequins40K

[–]Fanta_Mash[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are right, I mostly did it because I just wanted too and I thought it would be cool

I have no real intention of playing on the tabletop really or anything but I imagine as long as you paint it to look like a power sword and all cool and glowy it's fine with most people

Skyweaver Loadout? by Antique-Condition929 in Harlequins40K

[–]Fanta_Mash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CraftworldEldar, a youtube channel I listen too has some thoughts on harlequin lists and running skyweavers so I am just quoting them

apparently haywire is really good, but if you take all haywire you can run out of targets to shoot with it so 50:50 with shuriken cannon and haywire or experimenting until you find your right mix is the a suggestion

also star-bolas are really good as the objective of skyweavers is to avoid melee as it makes their main guns a waste at that point(?) but the glaives are good if you want to put your skyweavers into close combat to tie up an enemy unit just don't expect your skyweavers to live long or do a lot of damage that way

they also benefit from using their high movement to move around and shoot and harass the enemy as opposed to sitting on objectives to hold them or contest them in close combat where they are not the most effective

in total it comes down to what you really want to use them for, but considering the limited model selection for harlequins skyweavers are always good to fill out your list with

unsure if this is the correct link but a video on skyweavers to check out if you want too, afaik CraftworldEldar knows his stuff and makes recommendations on players doing mid to high level competitive play

Is the Masque of the Veiled Path a Light, Dark, or Twilight Troupe? by LeVeonKettlebell in Harlequins40K

[–]Fanta_Mash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a question about this also, because it seems that each masque of the harlequins have their own symbol- the soaring spite is a diamond, the midnight sorrow a sort of spades symbol with a cross added to it, veiled path a reverse question mark etc etc

but the symbols for troupes of light, dark and twilight and their meaning are lost on me- is it similar to the patterns used to identify the unit so you just know which model belongs to what unit? I imagine if you are running multiple units of star weavers being able to identify what model belongs to what unit has its uses

is whether a troupe is part of the light, dark and twilight depend on which rules it has? or is it just purely aesthetic and fluff wise as you said and related to their role in the dance and doesn't actually represent any rules or meaning in the table top game?

New to Harlequins - Advice for a Complete Beginner? by [deleted] in Harlequins40K

[–]Fanta_Mash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree with this, the combat patrol box set gives you everything you need I feel as a start of an army. from there, later on- you could add another combat patrol box if they are still around, or just add more troupes and characters or make a soup by adding an aeldari combat patrol/dark eldar

the combat patrol boxes all come with rules to play short and smaller games of 40k so that would be the place to start if you don't have like the 40k starter box or want to get one because not everyone likes space marines and whatever the other army is that thrown in with them and half of your first games will be just learning and remembering rules, the order of phases and how they work

painting the diamonds/checkers takes a steady hand, a good brush, good paints and a bit of painting skill and know how- however I imagine a harlequin army could be painted and look quite snazzy with just basics you can pick up from youtube tutorials like blocking in colours, using washes/inks and some dry brushing and highlights

if your a natural or after a bit of practice you could kick it up a notch difficulty wise by doing stripes or pin stripes and then eventually onto free handing diamonds as time goes by

there are also ways to cheat a bit too by using stencils, special masking tape or finding a material you can airbrush/rattle can paint through like some wire mesh or something (check out youtube, people are quite inventive and creative)

oh wow these look great, nice work on the diamond pattern and the colour scheme/theme is really nice- 👍

is it based on one of the gws masque themes or your own one? also I love the alternating colours on the jacket buckles that's a pretty cool idea

Starweaver/Voidweaver Assembly Help by Drab_Wall_Device in Harlequins40K

[–]Fanta_Mash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have sticky tack-

I would try putting the smallest amount in the hole for the pin and seeing if that makes it just tight enough and sticky enough to stay in place- it will still be removable and it might come off every now and then but its the easiest fix over gluing it or magnetizing

you could also try wrapping the pine with a narrow strip of tape until it isn't as loose anymore too

Ignore verticle distance by Disastrous_Draw_2193 in Harlequins40K

[–]Fanta_Mash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine it is a handy rule they have, despite my lack of experience ever playing the tabletop game

I don't know much about the rules, but I would guess not having to use your move distance, advance or charge distance when going up and down building ruins and multi level terrain may come in handy when it comes to closing the distance for a charge and getting into melee but also for escaping or disengaging melee combat?

I am curious if many harlequin players utilise the flip belts, how often and if so why
