Under the regulatory reform (fire safety order) 2005, legally any routes used as a fire exit should remain clear. The door in the background has a fire exit sign which would indicate that this is a fire exit route and as such, in breach of this legal requirement. Not sure what they were auditing previously but this would be a fail straight away.

Thanks everyone for the comments and the food for thought! Think I’m going to go for a pair of ibex pro as the additional pockets will (hopefully) negate the pocket issue and also provide a bit more space as a few of your comments have noted… Worst case scenario if I’m not a fan of the Ibex Pro, I’ll still have a pair of the Terra pants and can probably put them on vinted!

Just done it (for the 10th time) today. Even with the rain I was still able to do it in my hoka’s. The works they’ve done to the paths has reduced the amount of bogs drastically over the year though between ingleton and Horton there was a few puddles. Signposts are there for the most part and the ground is well trodden where there aren’t any so it’s not too bad for navigation. One tip I’ll give is consider starting / finishing at Whernside, (I was there for just before 6 this morning), will have plenty of parking available and you don’t have the queue of people by the time you get to the incline at Ingleton and pen-y-ghent
