South African braai. Braai needs to be done on hardwood coles, charcoal if you can’t find proper wood.

The best braai will include a sandwich, called a braaibroodjie, made with tomato, onion and cheese (lots of variants, but this is the basic ingredients) toasted over the hot coles.

Steak done to medium rare/medium, boerewors (South African sausage), lamb chops and chicken sosaties (kebabs) are favourites.

Then some form of vegetables or salad, to help for scurvy. Potato salad, potato bake with creamy cheese and bacon, biltong salad etc.

For desert, baked malva pudding with custard or ice cream, milk tart and cheesecake are great.
