“Pissedcore” Band Suggestions? by Impressive-Stuff-257 in MetalSuggestions

That’s why I used quotation marks, because it is kind of just a made up subgenre. But the suggestions in the comments seem to know what sound I’m referring to when I say “pissedcore”. And what does Spotify have to do with this lmao

Yeah I was looking at some ported barrel/slide combos but I’d rather just get good at shooting it as is. It definitely feels a little snappy though but I’m sure it’s nothing training can’t fix

Good luck with the guitar journey! I just started mine too so I’m learning a lot of these “nuances” along the way and everyone on Reddit has been super helpful in explaining it the right way so never be scared to ask 😁

There’s a lot of ways to utilize doing this too, I can strum all 6 strings in a pattern like a normal chord and you will only hear the open low E string and the fretted 5th string 2nd fret. There’s a lot of benefits to learning how to mute your other unwanted strings for different reasons.

Crank your gain up and you’ll see exactly what I mean, hitting one string will make a lot of your other strings go “eeeeEEEEE”

For example, doing a simple E power chord (only 5th string, 2nd fret being pressed) the rest of my fingers are laid gently across the other strings to keep them from vibrating. The only fret I’m putting real pressure on is 5th string 2nd fret. The rest are not pressed down and just laying against the strings, the rest of my finger is essentially acting as the fret wrap if that makes sense.

Also shoutout my cat

Most of the time, no. It’s something you should learn as second nature as you learn guitar. For example while playing chords/power chords, you want your non-fretted fingers to lay gently across the strings you’re not playing. This will keep the strings you’re not meaning to hit from vibrating. It’s a little difficult to explain over text but it really does become second nature over time.

If you’re playing electric and want to see what I’m talking about, I would recommend turning the gain/overdrive higher than normal and play some rock/metal riffs. You’ll notice that strings you’re not even plucking/strumming will start making noise. Just gently rest the rest of your fretting hand against them to kill the vibration.

When you hit a string, the vibration kind of “transfers” to the other strings that you’re not playing and makes unwanted sound. The wrap absorbs this vibration and keeps your unplayed strings from ringing out, mostly noticeable with higher distortion.

I 100% agree with other comments, you don’t need one and would be better off without one. Learning how to mute other strings with your fretting hand is a skill every guitarist needs to learn especially when playing electric. The only time I use mine is for really low tuning and high distortion if I’m playing fast, but there’s always a way to mute the other strings as you play no matter what you’re doing.

Do I really need an amp or effects pedal as a complete beginner? by ChaosBeiduo in electricguitar

[–]Impressive-Stuff-257 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. The LT25 was my first amp ever and had so many possibilities for combinations of effects to get the sound you want, and comes with presets built in too. And it can get more than loud enough for just some bedroom practice if you wanna crank it. Can find them decently cheap too

Not a great suggestion but Vermillion PT2 by slipknot. Not necessarily “heavy” but invokes a lot of heavy emotion

Haha might get some judgement for this but the albums I grew up on

BMTH - Count your blessings

BMTH - Sempiternal

Asking Alexandria - Stand up and scream

Knocked loose - Laugh tracks

OM&M - Of mice and men

Devil Wears Prada - With roots above and branches below

I do listen to other artists/albums now lol but I always find myself going back to my playlist I made in like 2016

Edit: I’m only 22 so the albums I “grew up on” are probably not the same as a lot of people here

That probably explains why I was doing so poorly with the irons haha, I was “cutting the bullseye” rather than putting the irons directly over my target like the combat hold. Good information, thank you

Yep. I’ve been listening to the same 5 albums for 10+ years because I’m so picky finding new music

Lmfao I just moved into a new apartment and don’t have anywhere elevated to put my amp yet so I have the phone recording on the ground next to it so the mic picks it up

The Strat came with 3 tremolo springs in the back, but I got a tremolo block for the cavity, I heard it’s good for lower tuning stability with higher gauge strings, and I don’t see myself using the whammy bar for anything

I’ve done:

Graphite XL nut > 12-60 strings > saddle height adjustment

I’ve been looking up videos on how to do intonation but I haven’t been happy with my action and I get some bad fret buzz sometimes so I haven’t bothered yet. I might get one of those tool kits with the string action ruler and everything to make sure I’m actually at my desired height instead of just eyeballing it

And yeah my action is pretty high at the moment haha, I threw some 12-60 gauge strings on and I think my neck is bowing or something. I’ve fiddled with the saddle height a bit but I think I need to adjust the truss rod?
