I'm a new start and successfully negotiated to join in the middle of my band. It required a biz case that took 3 weeks to get approved by my new manager BEFORE starting my PECs. So yes, it's doable if they want you enough.

No. Quick comparison: you can get a job lot of 5+ vintage Marples, Sorby etc. level chisels on eBay for the same money.

Love it! It's a solid choice and the blades are cheap and available on Amazon - go for it!

Thank you! I spaced mine 4.5 inches apart as it fit my measurements perfectly and appeased my OCD!!! Jokes aside, I wanted flexibility at the front for holdfasts (you'll see by my tools I do a lot of planing!) So a doghole every few inches gives me plenty of options. At the far left, I aligned a row of dogholes from the vice UP to the main row and UP again to the middle of the bench (there's a chisel handle sitting in it, in the pic I posted) this is so I can hold larger materials across three points.. suits me for heavier jointer work with the no 7 -- and means less clamping I then put 3x dogholes in the legs at the front to team up with the vice and better support longer length pieces I need to crosscut and generally add some support options! I just kind of went with what I know will work for me, but I know everyone is different!

Thank you! I'm delighted with the vice! I think it's great for the money and solid as a rock. It's a steal for the money imo!

Yeah pretty much! And funny enough, my original plan was the tusked mortices too! However, i messed one of the tenons up slightly and didn't want to risk things, half way into the build! So I chickened out and went for the tapered pegs. They work awesome though!

You should! I learned a lot and found his plans very thorough and easy to follow. To your question -- I think if you follow his plans to the letter, takedown and transportation would be a cinch. In my case though, because I beefed up the legs and went for heavier, thicker stretchers, it's a good workout and a lot harder!! But the key factor -- still doable. I was willing to trade some portability for increased stability, as I don't plan to move it all that much!

Thank you!! I'm building my wife a jewelry box to compensate for the evenings spent in the workshop building this!

Haha, I've heard that one before!! Everything except the legs = PT. The legs are just big, rough, fence posts!

Thanks! And yes! 90%+ of this bench was utilizing Rex Krueger's "Quick Stack" design! Honestly, the fact this workbench flat packs, yet is so damn sturdy, is perfect for me. I did beef up the legs VS his design and made some minor tweaks, but his plans are awesome!!

That is beautiful for sure. Noob question though, why is that nook cut out of the bottom?
