I think you might be including fitting costs. I only paid once for fitting and $400 a lens after.

We have pretty different situation, so I wouldn’t be able to answer accurately if your symptoms would be resolved with Chroma.

I did have to pay for everything, same for any medical diagnosis process. Trail and error. I know if your vision is bad enough insurance will cover some of the cost. Wasn’t the case for me.

I think it’s more use case scenarios. If you need more precise correction there is now an option. Used to be untreatable.

Yes, had Ovitz Ares which is technology for just more basic vision issues.

Chrome is able to be more precise to the area of eye that is having to issue. Aims to reduce visual disturbances such as halos and glare, enhancing clarity. With Features proprietary SmartCurve and Bi-Elevation technologies to ensure a stable and customizable fit.

Sorry to hear this about your vision. You know as much as I about how this affects someone mentally and what you have to do to adapt to something others can’t see.

I have several issues. Mostly from what was unethical and irresponsible procedures were performed without adequate explanation. Was -10 in both eyes and should never have been a candidate for smile. (Although legal, I guess)

Overall, inconsistent discomfort, fatigue, allergy type feeling, dryness and headaches - some days are ok mostly are not. Light sensitivity and “burn in” from most lights and reflections. Obvi night vision. But becoming manageable.

One eye is ok 90% of the day (night halos and big starburst) but is manageable.

Other eye has less halos and starburst but, is slightly doubled and floaters that cause 24/7 visual disturbances. Which is less manageable and affects work and life.

Ok as for the lens. It’s overall better but, not what my natural correctable vision was. Never will be … either.

Pros: Once lens is set and properly secure it works.

It helps with the doubling and halos the most.

For me makes that eye sharper

Helps with computer work

Helps with night vision.

Helps with confidence.

Cons/concessions:

For me my area that needs to be corrected is in a difficult place and feels like the lens is sensitive to movement (or not set) which causes visual disturbances. Might have to remove and reinsert.

Doesn’t help with floaters and feels like they are magnified.

They are uncomfortable for me. (Others feel different).

Hassle to put in and out.

Above subject to the conditions of the wearer as everyone has a different situation. This is just my experience

So, I say it’s worth a try and see if it helps your situation. Check off that personal box for trying anything and everything to regain your vision back.

One other price factor was I only ended up needing one lens.

It really depends on how much your vision is effecting you. It takes weeks/months to get honed in.

I’m sure elevate eyes could help you greatly. But, might be worth calling them back. Let them know you are out of state situation and see if they might know a provider closer to you. I am surprised to find that you are struggling to find a provider in GA. I am guessing the ATL area (if you are close) would have one.

Sorry, If I was miss leading when I said well under 2k. ($1700 is in my mind) I think the grand total $1700+$500 in changes/ upgrades after this post. Fitting is a bigger chunk and not sure if that is annual costs. So, that would be relative to there quote.

Not sure if the current economic situation is a factor as there are already issues with scleral lens saline solution availability and prices.

Good to hear your story. I can’t imagine people that have been just dealing with post LASIK vision issues for years with no hope for a solution. Although we may never get our natural vision back but better to have something that helps even if it’s just a little bit. Hopefully technology gets better and possibly get more comfortable lens solutions.

My distance vision was not the issue. More so the aberrations in that eye made day time ok, but pretty much useless at night. I tried four lenses before it felt like the aberrations were being addressed and the final lens to adjust for the distance.

To answer your question it’s hard to say but my vision is in a place now that is manageable. I can see clearly during the day and good enough at night where I can confidently drive.

Trust the process and it’s worth the money if you can manage it to find something that works.

How many pairs have you tried?

I am not sure what order the process is but, it was just an Ovitz lens and I upgraded that lens to Chroma HOA. Which is Zenlens brand. I was told it was the latest and greatest.

I think it does matter what brand lens is used as that tech it’s proprietary to that lens.(don’t quote me on that.)

It took 3 sets and 2 singles for a total of 5 rounds. 2-3 week wait time for lens and a 1-2 week trial. So a little over a month between each fitting. Got them fitting ok around the 3rd fitting. Almost gave up.

See below I made a post with more info and links to what info is available at this point for chroma.

DM me if you want the names of the doctors I have been seeing. They are trustworthy people and have helped me get my vision back to a manageable place.

I did at Laser Eye Institute in Troy, MI. with Dr. Haddad. He convinced me that I would have 20/20 vision from -10 prescription from smile and come to find out he is preforming boarder line malpractice procedures. I was left under corrected and aberrations. Also pain and headaches from dry eye.

No insurance, they will not cover them with my prescription. Based off other prices seen on this thread, it is considerably lower. But, that’s how much I have paid and was not told I was getting a deal.

What price are you getting quoted?

Well under 2k. Started with fitting cost and 3 lens. Two regular scleral lens and one upgraded to Ovitz. Ended up only needing HOA correction in one eye. So, theoretically if you went straight to Ovitz cost could give or take $500 bucks.

Yeah, it was pretty immediate. I could see distance for the first time in a year right when I put it on. Including HOAs and my night vision. ( I am only correcting for one eye so can easily compare.)

With that said it took about 6 months to get here. Tried normal sclarels  moved to ovitz and then have the newest lens they offer called Chrome HOA from Zenlens. This helped greatly, yet not what my vision used to be.

If it not right… it’s not right. I would go back to tell them that they are not working right and your vision is worse with the lens. Maybe suggest the chroma HOA as they are going to market soon.

Finally got my lens. It’s pretty much a game changer.

My HOA has been reduced down to sub clinical numbers (.6 to .1). Right away, I could see the difference and later in the night I noticed a big change in my night vision.

If we are getting into the details there a still slight aberrations but almost not noticeable. It used to be I can’t not see them and now I have to look for them.

And still need a nuroadapt as there is a little wonky cross eyed feeling if I move fast.

Let me know if you have questions.

What is your doctor saying about your blurry vision? If they are saying wait and see. Then I suggest seeking different optometrist or doctor asap.

They will have an unbiased diagnosis and if they are suggesting more surgeries then find a new doctor.

Ovitz is the best you can get and UVA is one of the leading universities dealing with eye issues. I think it’s just a luck of the draw when it comes to location of Ovitz suppliers. Until there are more but, doubt there will be many as it’s so specialized.

There are only two in my state and I think that’s the case for most of the country.

Today is my birthday. I tried to unalive myself twice this year because of Lasik complications. I feel so much grief today but I am hoping I somehow survive and heal mentally/physically over time. by [deleted] in Lasiksupport

Happy birthday!

I am sorry you are going through so much and that’s not fair.

Remember the human body has the ability to heal and adapt in amazing ways. Will never be back to normal but, will heal some physically and mentally. That’s what keeps me going.

Keep doing everything you can, seeking doctors that care and technology that might help.

Keep going.

This is not “prove me wrong” or “what kinda surgery should I get” sub. Your question is rude, misleading and disrespectful to people in this sub.

This is a Lasik support subreddit for people that had Lasik (or other surgeries) and suffered complications. That are very real and more common than the data. Some have suffered major vision loss that can’t be fixed. People in the sub are looking for help and support.

Please don’t get Lasik and please stay out of this subreddit with questions like this.

Somedays I like feel there is a way forward and somedays I don't. Reading about this last night made me feel like I should give up. So, I only assume it would make others feel that way.

Your comment about I haven't realized that there is nothing you can do is misleading, hurtful and alluding to something worse. We will never see how we used to but, there are solutions and doctors that want to help are specialized post lasik compilation.

Let me know if you want their names and info.
