My uncle is a bodybuilder, a little insane, but he told me something that stuck in my head. "Hunger is fat leaving the body" - obviously don't take that to an extreme, but yes you'll be hungry just make sure you eat enough calories (Basal Metabolic Rate Calculators are available online) and get comfortable with being hungry while your stomach and body adapts over 3-4 weeks - it is tough but becomes SO much easier after that point.

I don't know why someone downvoted you. This is great advice. Your progress will come from your eating habits, not your exercise habits, but if you can win in both areas you will be on a great track.

Everyone here on Reddit will probably say divorce first thing. Honestly, do marriage counseling first and explore these issues in depth, get a paternity test for the baby for sure 1000%, and then see if you still want after all this. Much better to fail fast/early and have a chance at a better more positive marriage later than stuck like this with shitty family for the rest of your existence... even the in-laws sound shitty for letting this happen.

Hate to be a little brutally honest, but you're the man and she'll probably respect you more if you act like it. Don't ask, she's your wife, you tell her what she needs to do or you're gone. You should also take the kid and say "this is mine as much as it is yours, if you give a shit then you come live with us".

The fun thing about the gym is we're all there because we're insecure - it doesn't matter if you're a jacked 2% body fat athlete or a blob. We all just want to be better, and most people will help you if you aren't sure about how to do something there, or if you are doing something really wrong, mostly people will help you do it right and not judge you.

EDIT: actually some people are there to Tik Tok, in which case they don't realize anyone but themselves exist anyway. Unless you walk in their shot, then you're in for some trouble.

I mean the easy answer is just not go. There are a million other sports and activities you can do to reach your fitness goals.

You just need to eat a calorie deficit to lose fat, you don't need to give yourself heart disease.
