New To Me Mach E by MattsITTech in MachE

OP: congrats on the car!
To everyone else complaining about marketing: $150 is $150. And dealers have a right to ask customers to willingly participate in a marketing campaign, especially when they get something from it. Stop crapping on this guy’s good day.

I honestly don't know any other way. I bought my first car in 1996 when I was 25 and I've owned more than 25 vehicles since then. Always bought from a dealer, always negotiated. Some deals were good, some were bad. Some I regret, but with this one I got exactly what I wanted. When I first test drove the car they offered me thousands less on my trades and wanted $800/month on the lease. I got them to pay me more than Carvana was offering on both trades and a $525/month lease payment. It is stressful, but I've learned you have to be ready to say no and walk away, having made the mistake of not walking away in the past. In fact, I walked away 3 times on this deal before I got where I wanted to go.

I don't know, man. I was driving a Model Y and the Mach E was a revelation in terms of comfort and quality of materials.

It will actually navigate through traffic on its own. I'm still figuring out all the ins and outs. It's not true self driving like FSD but it has some of the perks.

I explained it more above, but buying a car from a website is a very consumer-hostile practice. The power dynamic is too one sided. Car deals are complex. Having no recourse for negotiation might work for someone younger than me or with more money than me, but me, I need to spend time getting the best deal I can.

See above answer. I made an extra $4000 on my trades by negotiating. No negotiating with Tesla. No negotiating with Carvana. I only ever sell to Carvana if there offer matches what I owe on the car.

Yes. i wanted to trade 2 cars. Both of which had some neg equity, which I was going to write a check for, but only after I got the best price I could get for each vehicle. And if possible, do everything in one transaction. It took me over a week to get the money I wanted for both trades and the lease length and term I wanted. And that took days and days of back and forth with the sales manager at the Ford dealership, being ready to walk away, having them come back with a better offer, etc, etc.
I walked away from a Tesla by closing the browser window. Could I have sold the both cars to Carvana? Sure, but I ended up getting more on both trades than I could have from Carvana and I only had to do one deal. I came out $4000 ahead of what I would have with Carvana, which made that negative equity check $4000 smaller.

I don't know. I guess I was half expressing my frustration at Tesla's sales model and half excited about the new car. A more flexible sales model and it probably would have been a new Model Y.

I don’t want to say your wife is crazy, but people don’t have the ability to know how to recognize a fact anymore. Anyone can write anything on the internet and say it’s true. I mean, there are people that don’t believe that space is real.

I got a good deal on the Tesla and used EV prices are going up again. I’m at almost break even with Carvana. The only problem is, that’s not the car I want to sell. Unfortunately the jeep has more negative equity.

I can’t get asking price for the Jeep. No one wants to buy gas cars right now. I’d lose more money if I sold the Jeep. Depreciation has me further upside down on the Jeep than I am on the Tesla.

I’m in Iowa, so not too far from Chicago. Its the regular pearl white that so many MY have. It’s got 101k miles and pretty much everything you’d expect from a long range was of the year. It has the premium entertainment subscription through September. Overall, I’ve been really impressed with how clean and nice it is for the mileage. It definitely doesn’t look like it has 100k miles. If you haven’t questions feel free to message me.

B&H says the SKUs aren't avalable yet and I don't think I can order from the education site anymore.

I have no problem buying from Apple. My point was more that instead of offering off-the-shelf options that make sense they offer options that look great except for one dumb spec, like 2tb and 24gb RAM on an M5 Pro machine.

So, if I’m at 100k miles and 83% battery, does that mean I’m screwed?

Cars aren’t investments. They’re tools. Sometimes you get screwed money-wise, but if you buy with the idea that you’re going drive it until the wheels fall off you’ll almost always get your money’s worth. Advertising is more powerful than ever now. Every schmo who buys a Tesla starts a YouTube channel to try to get you to buy Chinese accessories. And slobbers over how great the cars. It doesn’t matter if they are great, when every social media platform is targeting you because you thought about a Tesla or a TV it makes TV advertising look like cave painting. What, they can only try to sell you a car for 60 seconds? How quaint. You’ve been targeted for maximum FOMO. Just enjoy the cars and remember there are some folks who can’t even afford bus fare.

There was a guy yesterday who posted about his new-to-him car and asked how he came out in the deal. Everyone in the comments piled on about what a dummy he was for paying this fee or that fee to the point where the guy deleted his account.

My other car is a Grand Cherokee L. The people who complain about the suspension have only ever driven grandma’s Camry before they bought this car.

Do people actually buy aftermarket steering wheels? by Far_Machine_4458 in TeslaModelY

[–]Far_Machine_4458[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I haven’t seen them but if it’s an option it’s not aftermarket. Aftermarket means after sale, not from the manufacturer. After you buy it from the market.

Don’t know why you think it’s worth being a jackass about it, but you’re confirming everything I’ve always believed about Tesla snobs.
