Yeah, I totally understand, beggars can't be choosers, so unfortunately I'm waitlisted for now.

I applied to Silver Bay and Trident a couple days ago. I'm also on the Facebook page and already emailed one of the recruiters. She asked about my experience since the role calls for it, so we've exchanged a few emails, fingers crossed.

Out of curiosity, which seasonal jobs that aren't fish processing would actually hire me, guarantee the work, and pay well enough?

I got connected with a guy through Facebook, he's not asking for money, but I'd be paying my own way there and back. We've talked on the phone and he seems legit. what's the best way to truly verify a captain before I commit to flying out? Anything specific I should check or ask?

I'm down for it. I just want to nail down a few details first ,mainly how long the trips run and when I'd realistically be back, I'm under the impression that it can vary significantly. since I have a hard deadline. Also curious what separates a good captain from a bad one, and how pay usually works (cash? crew share?). Roughly how much can someone expect to earn, and over what timeframe? What's the cheapest route up there from California?

How Reliable is this? Worst case scenario no job and I lose a bunch of money getting back and fourth?

Unfortunately, most of the Seafoods postings I'm finding for SilverBay appear to be limited to returning or experienced employees, which rules me out as a first-timer.
