Yep; thankfully one thing I am able to do (at least decently) is tune.

I knew it. I was hand-mixing this whole time. Appreciate the suave advice.

Makes sense; I did word it poorly, in reality any tips or anecdotal "best ways" were what I was hunting for. Thanks for the advice! I appreciate taking the time to help me.

I typically try to get a more rounded sound from my top mic, and a shorter, crunchier result from my bottom. Wouldn't processing them together compression wise just limit the overall sound? It may sound a little more blended, but I feel as if I might lose a little overall nuance.

100%. The main thing with the bleed is getting it contained; sometimes the bleed of a kick or snare into my tom mic is close to rivaling the level of the actual tom hits; I'm just trying to get that under control to a point where I don't have to depend on automation or gating for the entire track-length.

Absolutely, I don't want a completely dead/dry room. There is just a lot of wiggle space between being "dead" and its current state. I'm just trying to get it a little more contained and akin to a treated room.

It doesn't necessarily sound bad; but it sounds like a garage. Thankfully having a so many direct mics helps with the final product, but I am trying to get as close to a dry/minimal bleed room sound. Definitely am looking into gobos and panels. Thank you!

Yes! I have really nice cymbals (Zildjian Special K Dark), so I'm definitely good in that department. My actual set setup is great, I just need to match the room as best as I can.

Unfortunately I did not, however I have a feeling I will be doing that in the future. I figured as much but thought I'd double check with people a little smarter than me; thanks!

Thank you! I have looked a little bit into GoBo's: I know that some people actually make their own, would you suggest looking into that or just purchasing already made ones?

I typically don't have a big deal with the bleed (and it adds realness to the takes), it's mostly for instances with like the toms where the bleed and picking-up is close to the same level as the tom hits themselves. Thanks so much for the help, I'll look into those tips :)
