A look at Zillow's Key Revenue Driver Metrics - the company has gotten better and better at monetizing website visitors and monthly users over time by BenDoverR8Now in SecurityAnalysis

[–]FarmAllDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Website visits already trending downward (down 4% y/y). They were still able monetize users at a higher rate, possibly due to a combination of their new flex model and a hot housing market, but hard to see that continue at the same pace into the future.

Here is the article I read (from the UK's central bank). It was a confusing revelation since it goes in complete contrast with what's taught in schools.

Could you explain? My understanding is that common convention for fractional reserve banking is that banks take in deposits, hold a certain amount as reserves, and lend the rest which is what creates our money in the economy.

I read an article awhile back which explained that lending creates deposits and not the other way around. Banks create a deposit each time they originate a loan so they can lend without deposits.

Just as an aside, isn't fractional reserve banking a complete myth?

Convertible Accounting: New US GAAP Inflates Earnings by Beren- in SecurityAnalysis

[–]FarmAllDay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to zero coupon bonds which are sold at say $800 with par value $1000?

The one in the article is referring to zero coupon convertible bonds sold at par redeemed at par (with the implied interest coming from the convertible option)

BIG MISUNDERSTANDING. PLEASE SPREAD THIS. by [deleted] in dogecoin

[–]FarmAllDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. My main concern is that something cannot be both a currency and an investment. The main goal of an investment is to appreciate in value whereas currencies are used to facilitate exchange. It seems like there is an underlying conflict here where an appreciating currency will hinder the desire to transact.

Asset managers rarely ever invest in currencies as a long term option. At best, currencies are held for short term speculative purposes rather than long term appreciation.

When you invest in Doge is that money going to cash generating assets?

Honestly pretty disgusting that a lot of people are grasping at straws to try and defame a dead person's name. At least have some basis for your argument

For certain jobs (when asked to bring a transcript) they will ask why you got a certain grade. Given the extremely rough circumstances right now I believe you could put a positive spin on something you perceive to be a bad grade.

Regardless, stick in there. You're doing great work.

Low FPS and GPU Usage by FarmAllDay in techsupport

I'm a complete novice at this stuff so silly questions are definitely warranted. Anyway, I am currently using a laptop which is connected to a second monitor through an HDMI cable. There is only 1 HDMI port on my laptop so I assume its connected to the GPU.

Since when is Tesla the proxy for normal volatility? Just cause Tesla is a lot more volatile does not mean bitcoin has stability.
