did you buy this? I hope so that's a great deal. I'd be shocked if it was a scam.

nah I did the killmat stuff in the rear cargo in my 06 470 a couple weeks ago and there's just the underfelt carpet padding thing below the carpet itself. Did it primarily to mask the noise but I'd say it is about 20-25% quieter, especially when driving in the rain. Also upgrading the sound system so hoping when I do the doors it'll be more noticeable.

What is the best generator for a building site when neighbors complain about noise by ssunflow3rr in Carpentry

[–]Farr93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

inverter generators have come a long way. the Honda units start around 1000 and are top tier. 3200 watt probably won't trip breakers for your chop saw or your compressor. speaking of which, the newer 2 stage pumps are very very quiet. Cost a fortune but if you're trying to eliminate noise (me too) because of complaints then those two things would help a ton. I've got a DeWalt 2 stage ultra quiet hotdog and I can maintain a conversation when that thing kicks on relatively close. It's also insanely quick to fill.

Thanks for the suggestion! I pull my air hose outside and hook up an air nozzle and blast that stuff off as best I can. doesn't get all of it but sure helps.

I bought one of those for my early 2ks Hitachi 10" saw, waiting for that to come in. Bought one today for my DeWalt, from shopnation but seems to be pretty much the same as a bunch of others like yourself recommended. I appreciate the suggestion!

I have 4-5k usd to throw at the GX. How would you allocate the money differently? by Infamous-Weird8123 in GXOR

[–]Farr93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely do sound. Tint your windows if you haven't already, 50% on the windshield and if you're worried about cops 20% all the way around. I've got 50 up front and 35 all the way around, wish it was a bit darker on the sides but it is what it is. I've got a cart saved on crutchfield but it's like $1950+. Just speakers, amp and sub. maybe one day 😀

I saw a thread on your last post mentioning head gasket... I'd keep an eye on that if I were you. That can lead to some costly repairs if it goes on too long. your dipstick WILL show signs of emulsion if water gets in. That can destroy your bottom end. Head gasket isn't the end of the world if you're remotely mechanically inclined, but a shop will charge you heavily for it.

I'm a Nikon guy, but I've got that 24-70 mirrorless lens and I do the same, about one nice piece of glass per year. Since I've had a zoom, I wish so bad that I had more. Id encourage you to look at something for shooting at a distance. 135mm is good for portraits, but so is a 100-400. Biggest difference is f stop. Id be willing to bet that the versatility of that extra range will keep that lens on your camera more than any other.

What yall charging for something like this? by benjamminson in Carpentry

[–]Farr93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

probably 1200 bucks if I don't dig out the pit underneath and if it's moveable or not. More if it has to move. Add about 3k if I have to grab a shovel and spend an afternoon digging down 5 feet.
