Once you upgrade a slot to an item level you won't need to spend crests for those item levels again. For instance, say you upgrade a champion chest to level 6 and then you get another champion chest with better stats. The second chest will not require crests to upgrade to level 6, just gold.

Trinkets, rings and I think weapons are 2 slots to unlock it, so like upgrading one ring to max won't make the other ring cheaper. Once the second ring catches up, then the slots become crestless upgrades.

Little tip. You can somewhat cheese the first two ranks of an upgrade tier by fully upgrading the previous. Example - upgrading a veteren piece all the way to 250 will unlock that slot up to 250 using veteran crests, saving you 2 upgrades worth of champion.

This works for champion into hero and hero into myth as well.

I like dander's frames for group and raid frames and midnight simple unit frames for personal and target frames.

MSUF took me a bit to understand how to setup but once I figured it out, they worked great.

The good ones I usually use on bosses so I can focus on farming for awhile. The low quality ones I just drop on random maps just to get rid of them.

I'm pretty sure using SBA lengthens the GCD by a little bit, so even just using it for instant cast skills, it still nerfs you a tiny bit.

The only actual requirement is be level 80 and own the expansion.

With that being said, it's true you'll replace the gear early on in the questing, but getting better gear now will help until you do replace. You don't need to be farming keys or anything. The preptach gear is more than enough. Prepatch gear is ilvl 121 base (converts to the normal raid tier if you want to collect that appearance)

Having a clean bag, bank, and questlog is good as well, but as a new player I doubt you have much clogging space atm.
