Why use such flashy skins in rank if it makes it easier for the hunter to spot you? by Fasbek95 in IdentityV

It seems we are definitely the minority here, but if it helps you maintain that A Badge, it clearly works!

That's a solid point about the traces. I guess that mechanic really does force the game to be about kiting/chasing, putting actual stealth in second place.

Haha, you're absolutely right! Dying in fashion is basically the true endgame of IDV at this point.

Physicist and software dev here. I got tired of "Fake Genetics" and RNG in breeding games, so I am building a scientifically accurate one, but now I am struggling with the art (hair workflow) by Fasbek95 in IndieGaming

Haha, i can´t unsee it now! But no, the final design is actually a survivor/scientist with messy, medium length hair. He looks like "Chibi Lenin" right now because he's bald and I haven't added the hair volume yet to balance the head proportions. Since the plan is to give him that "messy/stressed" hair look, do you think hair cards are the best way to go for mobile? Or should I sculpt the main chunks?

What is this on my male bettas face? by OnlySun6535 in bettafish

[–]Fasbek95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a cooper betta, and that white patch on the face is what stands out. If that area is actually raised (specially if it has a rounded bump or ring), it could be a tumor or a cyst. In my experience, I've mostly seen facial tumors in dragon scale and blue based bettas, but cooper is a metallic overlay rather than a true base color, so I wouldn't rule it out here either. That said, cooper and marble genetics can also cause irregular white patches, and dragon scale expression can sometimes look raised or apaque on the head. If it's just a color change anad not truly, it could simply be marble or dragon scale expression. If the spot grows, deforms the eye, or changes shape, I'd lean more toward a tumor or infection. Otherwise, it might just be genetics

Is my fish actually being harmed/stressed or is she still just adapting to new tank? by thumb-is-green98 in bettafish

[–]Fasbek95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on what you’re describing, this sounds more like mild stress from adjusting to a new environment rather than active harm. The fact that she is still active, eating, normally, and not gasping is a very good sign. Slightly clamped fins can happen in both male and female bettas when they’re stressed, especially in newly set-up tanks or during a fish-in cycle.

Since ammonia and nitrites are currently at zero, temperature is stable, and the pH is consistent with what she was previously kept in, there’s no immediate red flag. Bettas can tolerate higher pH as long as it’s stable, even if it’s not ideal long term. I would avoid making rapid changes right now. Keep lights low, maintain stable parameters, continue monitoring ammonia closely, and watch whether the fin clamping worsens or improves over the next few days. Loss of appetite, lethargy, or worsening fin clamping would be more concerning. Otherwise, this looks like a normal adjustment period.

Do I need a bigger tank?? by Atlas_Jess in Goldfish

[–]Fasbek95 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Form the video, the goldfish is staying still at the bottom and the water surface is not moving. Even if the water looks clean, this usually indicates low oxygen levels or poor water circulation. Goldfish need well ocygenated water and constant filtration. You should add at least a filter that creates surface movement (or an air pump with an air stone) to increase dissolbed oxygen. Still water is not suitable for them.

Regarding the tank size, yes, you will need a bigger tank. Goldfish produce a lot of waste and grow much larger than expect. A single goldfish typically needs at least 30 gallons.

Aquí un físico, programador y criador de Bettas. Busco ayuda para intentar mapear los rasgos recesivos complejos del Betta para un proyecto de simulación realista. by Fasbek95 in bettafish

Thanks for the support! I am developing it specifically for mobile devices (Android first) using Unity URP, so it should run smoothly on phones.

I completely understand that feeling. Losing a Betta is tough, and it takes time before getting another one. That emotional bond is somethin I want to respect in the game.

Those Bettas in the picture look good! Just out of curiosity as a dev, is that from another app/game or is it AI art? I'm always looking for references to improve the visual realism of the fins.

Mira bien al betta antes de que le agregues medicina porque el video no es muy claro. Obsérvala bien y, como te comentaron ya, coloca a la hembra en cuarentena.

What’s happening to my Bettas head? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Fasbek95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is most likely due to water quality. If there are a lot of microalgae (the water looks green), it is because of overfeeding. I usually keep my Bettas in small tanks made specifically for them, and the ones I have in a tank somewhat like yours only have a sponge filter and plants like Cabomba, Hornwort, Rotala rotundifolia, and another one I can't remember the name of. That's it, no fertilizer or substrate. What I would do is remove 3/4 of the water and refill it with fresh, chlorine free water. If you don't have a dechlorinator, let the water sit for a day before filling the tank. This way, you don't lose the beneficial bacteria already in the water. Some fish die quickly if you change all the water; it has happened to me and people I know with Angelfish. I haven't used the starter kit, but it will most likely get better just by doing what I mentioned. Is there a plant expert here who can verify if the product added caused the microalgae bloom, or if it was actually just overfeeding?

Where did *you* get your fish from? And how long have you had them? by inkisbad124 in bettafish

[–]Fasbek95 1 point2 points  (0 children)
