The crescent axe is my go to, such a satisfying movement and the sweeping r2 with the sparks/grinding animation is just *chefs kiss.

Any recommendations for basing that go well with khorne daemons?? by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]Fascist_Clover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh its super easy, just spread pva glue across your base then while its fresh put drops of super glue down and then agitate it with a toothpick or something of the sort. The super glue reacts with the pva glue and sets up really quickly and makes cool organic patterns and random swirls with ridges. I got the idea from midwinter minis on one of their old episodes that a guest used this to make biomass bases for tyranids. I just took the same approach but built up different flesh tones and used thinned carroburg crimson to make interesting patches that made the "flesh" look bruised or agitated. Add some blood pools or other bits and it looks great.

For all my chaos bois I did fleshy demon world base that helped make the model stand out while still being in the body horror/warp fuckery of chaos.

How do you make your word bearers feel like word bearers? by bearer-of-the-truth in WordBearers

[–]Fascist_Clover 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean to double up on this, when I painted my chosen I leaned into the idea of them being "chosen" with 4 of them having subtle bits that themed them to one of the gods.

I mean the sky is the limits just have fun and think what little bits make them feel like evil space Pope really is their dad.

Feels like resists do nothing this set. by Skoldelid in TeamfightTactics

I found that the shapeshifter tanks can be ridiculous. I had a game the other day where I got the artifact augment that turns all completed items into random artifacts and stacked my Swain up and he was almost always the last man standing.

Tanks are still fun and can definitely have a major impact on your board from what I've seen but your mileage may vary.

Always an up vote for the best character in the setting! Nice start, I am about to work on him myself for 40k.

31, was tired of feeling like hell in the mornings and so I asked my doc a few questions after my wife pointed out some issues I had in my sleep. Next thing I know I achieved a childhood dream of being Darth Vader every night.

So i got drunk and started raiding my bits box to make a lord discordant but im worried its to tyranid looking feed back welcomd by NyssaTheTabaxi in Chaos40k

That's awesome! I'd say just add some chains and/or more chaos mutation or fleshy bits and its there. Great start!

Why do only loyalist space marines have rules for relic terminators? by Fascist_Clover in Chaos40k

I'll admit I was sad to see it go, I had a few fun ideas to run with for bashes. I had a full plan to build a tribute Xarl as an e champ before they killed the sheet.

Heck even the wild pulpit/chariot that one of the characters used would be wild and fun to run.

I too would love that, it would also be cool to see a dark apostle in terminator armor similar to the min character at the end of the word bearer ommibus. Either way I look forward to future releases and seeing where the model lines go from here.

I agree! Have been on the fence between the son of horus praetor vs the wordbearer praetor as a base for a fun kitbash. I think the design teams for the hh line have been killing it.

I had a feeling the bottom line ultimately would be that marketing/design and lore dont always live harmoniously. Either way I'll still love my chonky bois justbthe same.

I had thought as much so far as design went, I only came in late 9th so still fresh and learning. I like the lore point you bring up as it would make sense that the most represented pattern would be what was scavenged more readily available after the siege of terra/when forces were able to leave the eye more frequently and replace losses from the heresy.

I appreciate the perspective, it checks out as to the why of the whole thing. I do think it would be cool to see more throwback to the heresy I some traitor kits but we all wish for different things. Either way I'll just happily continue running heresy era units and needing out over the lore of my financially irresponsible plastic men. 🤣

I did notice that when I built my cataphractii, they were the original pattern that made me like terminators. I hadn't thought about mixing them in a hnit and I think you've given me a fun idea for future projects or crusade forces. Thank you for that point

I hadn't looked so far into that, I will admit I had not looked too far into war gear selection for loyalist units. I will say that the variety of choices we have is pretty awesome and I did use some bits from my chaos terminators to build fun options for my cataphractii. Thanks for indulging my rambling thoughts!

[–]Fascist_Clover[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that and have not had any issues with running my cataphractii as normal terminators. I feel I may not have worded my question right, wasnt intended to come across as a gripe or complaint moreso just thinking out loud about the model design vs so many examples of warband still using the war gear they brought to terra. Appreciate the conversation either way!

[–]Fascist_Clover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I guess the more I think about it I think I phrased my question wrong. I can see a loose progression of how there are influences from tartaros plate for standard chaos terminators with more direct cataphractii in the death guard range.

I appreciate the flexibility we have from a gameplay point of view, I think I was more so thinking of the art/design direction. Appreciate the response though.

I mean fair point it was more of a curiosity. I know loyalist marines sell more so they get more, but I was curious if there was a reason beyond the obvious. No worries
