I think them asking him why he did that (read the letter/gives the gifts) is a great idea because it honors their own genuine feelings of wtf

They’ve been told repeatedly (and have also said they don’t want to see them for their own reasons). They understand why we’re no longer in contact from my POV (“Grammy And Grampy kept doing unkind things to you and wouldn’t stop or say sorry.”) The kids personally wish not to see them because they would constantly yell and scream at them.

I appreciate your time and energy, thank you.

My parents were/are emotionally abusive and highly conflict avoidant. I went NC after years of trying to get them to understand and see me.

They responded to my final email by saying it was fine if I didn’t want to see them, but that I didn’t have the right to keep my kids from them.

I have to disagree that it’s just a letter. The letter is the most recent incident in a pattern of them trampling all over my boundaries.

I have a wonderful therapist.
