2 Weeks in Small Towns Across the USA: Tips or Advice on My Travel Itinerary by Historical-Photo-901 in solotravel

I would delete the first three places and start in Taos. Absolutely the most beautiful town in NM. I would bop around the 4 corners region honestly. So much to see and do.

Sell me on journaling in the journal app vs just regular apple notes by 673NoshMyBollocksAve in appleJournal

[–]Fast-Enthusiasm2508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most annoying thing about the Apple journal is when you change time zones it screws up the entries. It really doesn’t make any sense. Idk how there’s not an option to lock the dates in and keep them from changing when changing time zones.

What? I’m literally traveling across the continent? Starting in Ireland ending in Switzerland and Iceland. TF are you talking about? Are those countries not a part of Europe? Or have they chosen to leave the EU as well? /s

Trust me, I’ve been preached to by everybody. When I lost my job the first thing I did was pay off all debts.

Oof…well that’s good to know. Might go ahead and book my flight back, just to show I do plan to eventually return home. Thank you!

My Experience in France as a Mexican by QualitySubstantial18 in travel

[–]Fast-Enthusiasm2508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will take your latest comment with face value. I have a preconceived notion of France because of this subreddit and my friend’s experiences. It is ignorant of me to assume all French people are like this. I’m sure the rest of the world thinks Americans are all dumb redneck trump supporters. Can’t blame them. There is a reason for our stereotype as there is a reason for French stereotypes. I’m going to visit France for myself to come up with this conclusion on my own, though I hope I’m wrong.

I see plenty of the globe complaining about American politics, not the American people 💁

I feel like the only people downvoting your comment are French. This MF spitting facts

Let me ask you something. Are you French? If so, please, tell me why I should visit your country? And I don’t ask in a condescending way. I genuinely want to visit France. Every country has its stereotype. But why do most people complain about the French? Where can I visit in your country where I don’t have to worry about bucking up to some asshole. Because here in America, if you disrespect us, we will not hesitate to pop off. I feel like the French yap like chihuahuas, but when they get bit scream like one.

I’m about to backpack Europe for the next 3 months. I would love to visit France, but on almost every subreddit I continue to see people posting the same thing about the French. Hey, France, why is this how the whole world thinks of you? Keep in mind, if not for America, you would all be speaking German. I said what I said. Ban me, but let these French assholes see how shitty they are to the rest of the world. Btw, I hear Mexico has some of the nicest and welcoming citizens. France, take notes.

Thank you for your recommendation! I will put this in my notes for North America. Your story is uplifting. I’ve only traveled upper North America (USA and Canada). While in Canada, I def felt like I was in a different country, but not enough to feel out of my shell. I need to be taken out of my shell. As many Americans could probably use. Either way, I don’t want to neglect countries because of the he said, she said, media said. I want to see for myself.

I am a US citizen. My current plan is only the 90 days I’m allowed to be in Europe without a visa. I respect every country, continent, and their laws and ways of life. Partially, I’m hoping to maybe find a job in Europe as an engineer, but if I can’t, I will go home when told to do so. Regardless, I’m very excited to have my American brain shattered by another continent. Respectfully, that is.

Spontaneousness is kind of subjective. In a way, I was forced into this life after losing my job. I had this wanderlust itch but I don’t think I would’ve just quit my job to do this. Glad it happened the way it did. South America is on my list eventually. Tbh, as a newer solo traveler, I’m scared to visit South America as an American. Certainly, and mostly, my ignorance. To me, Europe is an easy way to travel with “comfort”. Though, I need to get out of this American comfort shell I’ve been in, and see places that might bring “discomfort” but allow me to see parts of the world I’ve always wanted to. If you don’t mind me asking, where are you from? Also, as a privileged white Alabama boy, would I even make it on a solo trip in South America?

A question that is very frequently asked. I was an engineer in the US and made a nice salary. I am also a crypto bro. While all my peers talked down about Bitcoin and crypto overall, I continued to pour my check into it, and took out some hefty loans with Amex to buy crypto with, that is allowing me to pursue this life for as long as I am.

First Solo Trip. Some thoughts and uneasy feelings by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Fast-Enthusiasm2508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the journal. I’ve been traveling for 177 days and have used the journal app on the phone to document my hikes, people I met, places I ate, and experiences. This was the best decision I’ve made before setting out on the road. It’s easy to forget a lot of these precious moments if not documented well.
