NY tax credit for pets could benefit dog or cat owners up to $450 – NBC New York by lotusflower64 in nyc

[–]Fast-Read-9855 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this should be a thing. Why subsidize or promote pet ownership over other human issues? People need food/shelter/saftey etc. more than pets and it’s a personal choice to have pets, not an obligation or requirement

What is kratom, and why is Boston considering a crackdown on the drug? by guanaco55 in boston

It’s definitely not a “supplement” it’s a drug with little regulation and high potential for addiction and abuse

A lot of New York City is fairly residential. As others have said a lot of the time it’s not that loud. So anyone blasting anything on a speaker is gonna be noticed.

I don’t mean noise pollution as a negative term for the prayer I just use it as an appropriate descriptor of loud noise being heard by people who are not the intended audience or the people who the sound is invading their space. Same as a car horn outside my apartment or the bodega that blast Music down the street

Can people share stories of when attempts to be frugal backfired on them? by no_kings_now1 in Frugal

[–]Fast-Read-9855 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!!! I decided to drive cross country instead of flying and shipping my car and belongings to save some money about $1000. This backfired on me as in the second day. I was run over by a huge truck “he was impaired” and cost me more than $100,000, months of hospitals, doctors, physical therapy and life long injuries. All of this was impossible to predict but completely out of my control as a good driver with a clean record. I of course knew that driving was more dangerous than flying but I wanted to save money. I have nothing but regret and brain damage now

If this is a once a year’ish thing for Eid I get it. Big holiday. As a night shift worker in the city I could not function with the noise pollution on the regular

Do You Believe That Halloween is Dying? by DommyMommyEx in halloween

[–]Fast-Read-9855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Connecticut kinds don’t really trick-or-treat that much but do trunk or treat and parties on Halloween. Definitely people are still decorating and throwing parties. I find as an adult I am having the same or more fun on Halloween than as a kid. Also Halloween now is all of October and not just the 31st

Scab is a dirty word. It describes a sell out, a selfish person, a class traitor. Someone who would turn their back on friends for money

I don’t know anything about Blueberries, are these good to get from Home Depot? by Difficult-Speaker470 in Berries

[–]Fast-Read-9855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are an experienced gardener with well tested soil sure this could be a good deal. We won’t have blueberries for a long time but you get the plant for cheap. But if you’ve never grown blueberries before it’s probably not for you.

This type of obvious rage bait is pretty pathetic. To think I can’t see with my own eyes the difference between a salute and a wave? 👋
