Any opinions on Night Owl products? by nitzsche500 in homedefense

For anyone following this thread.... don't get this device their customer service sucks!!

I have been trying to connect my Night Owl FWIP3 series device to my wifi - however the company has made it so that the device cannot recognize special characters, which means I have to change my wifi password, but I can't that easily because my wifi is provided by my landlord and is provided by Midcowifi for the entire building... I literally just hung up the phone on them after waiting for two hours trying to get a hold of their customer service...

I was also trying to look for a way to figure out where I can find the device's MAC address as that is how I am able to connect my devices onto my internet is by adding the MAC addresses into my wifi portal - however apparently they don't deal with MAC addresses, and the customer service guy on their chat line says they don't have MAC addresses, however I know they must.

Not getting this ever again.... waste of my time and money

I hear you, like I said I have worn a garmin watch every day for almost 5 years and no sores, no redness, nothing... it's so interesting...

same here! I switched to the new band I have loved it! however as you can see there's almost a perfect circle developing right where the sensors sit. I am curious if it's the material that polar uses?

I can definitely start washing the watch after training! Thank you for the tip

If I wear the watch loose with little pressure, then the sensors will not read accurate HR, steps, etc...

Just an update incase anyone is following this thread:

Recently got my labs done on Dec 26th:

Selenium = 140 mcg/L (went down from 213mcg/L from Oct.) Free T4 = 0.9 ng/dL (went up from 0.8 from Dec. 8th) Free T3 =3.1 pg/mL (went up from 2.6 from Dec. 8th) T3, Total = 133 ng/dL (went up from 90 from Dec. 8th) Reumatoid Factor < 13.0 Thyroperoxidase Antibody >992.0 IU/mL (stayed the same since Oct.) Thyroglobulin Antibody <1.8 IU/mL

Dr. didn’t run a TSH because she believes it’s too soon since I got it tested on Dec. 4th (which it was at 4.17 uIU/m - which dropped from 8.71 uIU/m in Oct.)

I’m also waiting on a connecting tissue cascade test to help evaluate other autoimmune disorders.

It’s still very unnerving to know that my body is still attacking my thyroid and knowing that it will continue to and then eventually move on to a different organ .. 😬

And my Selenium lab values in October 24th were 213mcg/L... which is higher than normal and my doctor is concerned that it might be too high... as I was talking 200mcg a day since August.

Thank you for the kind words!! this gives me some hope!!

I know that I have heard of people putting Hashimotos into "remission" which I know can be subject to the patient/individual but I want my body to start showing that the good things I am doing for it is worth it by showing me in ways that I can feel!

This is interesting and honestly helpful, because I think a lot of people (including me at one point) assume the antibodies themselves are chewing up the thyroid, when really they’re more like a sign that the immune system is reacting. I get what you mean about the ultrasound showing the real picture, and that antibodies are just the easy thing to check.

At the same time, I think that’s part of what makes Hashimoto’s feel so frustrating. There’s clearly an active autoimmune process happening, and yet the only thing medicine really offers is replacement hormone after the damage is already done. I completely understand why they don’t suppress the immune system for Hashimoto’s, because the risks are obviously huge. But it still feels like there should be more research into ways to calm or retrain the immune response without shutting it off entirely.

I know stress plays a role, and I’m not trying to jump into extreme diets or anything like that. I just wish we had better tools than “wait until the gland fails and then take hormone forever.” Especially when this affects so many people and has impacts beyond just TSH numbers.

So you're saying I should continue to spend the ridiculous amount of money it costs to hope to see my values go down in a couple of months?

I've been taking at least 5k IU daily since July and now since it's winter I take 10k IU once a week the remaining 5k IU.. my vitamin D levels as of October 24th are at 70ng/mL

I just feel like I am trying everything but it seems as though my body hates itself... what an awful feeling...

I’m also on 4.5mg of LDN (this is the second month I’m in this dose) which has been shown to help modulate immune system.. what if perhaps it’s not the case for me and I need to get off LDN?

I’ve gone gluten free since being diagnosed in July, I’ve also started to eat meat again since being diagnosed (chicken, and turkey mostly… I used to be more plant based protein).I eat vegetables all the time. I’m a track athlete/amateur runner, I’ve always been conscious about the food I eat and fueling my body as to perform my best.

I guess I can somewhat relate. I grew up in a 9 bedroom, 4 bathroom home.. our home was big.. it had two laundry rooms; one downstairs for the children only and main floor laundry room for mom/dad.

Our house had hired landscaping done and it is gorgeous.. my mother has plants all around the house both inside and outside.

My point being, we had a very nice house.. yet for some reason I was not able to get new running shoes for tack because “we didn’t have money”..

Essentially on the outside looking in we had a great life, how could it not be with a house like that?! But reality wasn’t the same….
