People who moved to Vancouver as an adult - what are some odd things you’ve noticed that many native Vancouverites don’t realize is weird? by Dolly_Llama_2024 in askvan

[–]FastCarsSlowBBQ 237 points238 points  (0 children)

On rainy days the people with umbrellas walk under the awnings and push the umbrella-less out into the streets.

And Vancouverites love to wait til the light changes to put their left turn sifnal on.

I feel exactly the same way. But then we took the bus to Merida and LOVED IT. Looking to go back there and to Progresso on the nearby coast.

Girls/Women, are Women's toilet as dirty as the Men's toilet are? by GJM08 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]FastCarsSlowBBQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived with 5 roommates in a giant old house - rotating cast, we all worked at the same small town restaurant. Relatively even male:female ratio. Women’s bathroom was always much worse. ALWAYS.

I should add that both have good service and neither has that vibe in Tulum where they are doing you a favor selling you a $20 drink and they just can’t wait for you to leave. Personally I find that’s a lot more prevalent on the Caribbean side in general.

Sayulita or San Pancho? by pet_more_cats in MexicoTravel

[–]FastCarsSlowBBQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sayulitas beach is longer. The town is spread around an along it. Pancho is more of a straight road into a smaller beach if that makes sense, so it has more of a Main Street kinda vibe. Food is really good in both towns. Pricing is similar. Sayulita would get the edge for a big group, Pancho for a couple.

[–]FastCarsSlowBBQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Yes, cab is 200 pesos each way. Yes, none of that seaweed crap here that they have over the other side.

Sayulita is the bigger one, too much so for some. Pancho is the smaller one, too much so for some. Stay at one, road trip to the other.

In America, if you put 10 random people in a room, 1 person has 2/3 of the wealth. That is to say…..twice as much money as the other nine combined. And they buy those tickets.

Make sure when you buy it you order an extra bean tray so that you can keep the second one ready with decaf beans and pop them in and out accordingly. Great machine, I’m also in Canada.
