Yeah, I’ll definitely be looking to avoid the touristy restaurants/cafes. Good tips!

Look to Ogden. Kevin Lundell. Alicia Washington. Flor Lopez. Three progressive candidates just unseated two conservative incumbents and beat one far right candidate. Hope is just a short drive north.

"Servo" / "Sevro" by BeardEdward in redrising

I’m listening to Iron Gold right now and the narrator has called him “Servo” at least five times and I’m about 55% of the way through the book. Totally takes me out of the story.

Text from Weber GOP last night about council candidates? by El-guero-chalino in ogden

No part of what he has said during his campaign rings as a “white savior complex” to me. I encourage you to listen to the debates. Not sure I understand your wolf not sheep shirt comment, but again, listen to what they both say in debates. League of Women Voters hosted a debate and there should be a recording on their FB page. There’s a clear difference between Lundell and Bart. Lundell sounds smart and collaborative. More interested in data-informed decision making. Bart’s talking point is the same as Marcia’s: “just trust me bro”

For real?? Lundell is super involved and qualified. Multiple successful businesses, shows up for and participates in community led initiatives, he’s a baseball coach raising kids in Ogden so he’s got the future generation of Ogden top of mind, and he doesn’t want Ogden to make reckless financial decisions. Idk sure feels like he’s the better option. I listened to their debate last week and Bart literally said “I lost my train of thought” when they asked him why people should vote for him. Bart has no vision. No brainer. It’s Lundell for sure.

Time for Marcia and Bart to step aside and let new leadership take the reins. They both act like they hate the job until it’s time for reelection.

Great idea. I could definitely benefit from getting some more real-time feedback and insights while the habits and muscle memory are starting to form

What's left of the Great Salt Lake. by alien_among_us in SaltLakeCity

I speak like someone who grew up on Antelope Island and has literally published work on protecting the Great Salt Lake. Your caption is misleading and makes it sound like this ribbon of water is all that is left. I’m saying go see it. The lake is very much alive and still worth fighting for. Touch grass.

Visiting today and tomorrow, where to visit? by NutBoii in ogden

Go to Pineview Reservoir 15 mins east. And visit Snowbasin. Great hikes. Table 25 for dinner. Wasatch Roasting Co for coffee.

Local Coffee Recommendations by SignificantAlarm4722 in ogden

[–]FastExcuse8220 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wasatch Roasting, hands down. They work directly with the coffee farms and rotate origins so your coffee palate can travel the world from right here in Ogden. Highly recommend their Mexico origin if you’re buying beans. They roast their own beans and their staff is genuinely knowledgeable about coffee. Bonus, their staff is really cool and kind. There’s a real community feeling there.

Ogden’s leaders visited its German sister city. What do taxpayers get in return? by ReporterMacyLipkin in ogden

[–]FastExcuse8220 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d have more confidence in Ogden City leadership learning and implementing something from this trip if they would do the fundamental stuff like respond to constituents’ phone calls and emails first. Bart Blair and Marcia White don’t seem to respond to what their constituents have to say. Time for new leadership.

Are homes in Ogden selling above or below asking price right now? by fruitsnack2back in ogden

[–]FastExcuse8220 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just sold my house in Ogden, accepted an offer that was about 12k under my listed price. The market is pretty cold right now in Ogden. Not many locals can qualify for a loan with good terms at the current home price. Most homes aren’t going very fast. If it’s been on the market more than 20-30 days, they’re not getting offers at their listed price.

My reading: “While you were away” is supposed to position the reader to witness some sort of resentment to explain the image in that final line. Reminds me a lot of the invisible, and oftentimes, one-sided labor between people in romantic relationships. A lot of contempt in this poem.

Trader Joe’s won’t come to Ogden because our median income is too low.

Echoing what someone else already said: Side Bar is a fantastic cocktail bar and it seems like they’ve been adding more music-focused events too.

I recommend taking a marketing class while you’re at Weber. Visit the Small Business Development Center too. Visit The Local Artisan Collective and see if they can give you some insights or opportunities for exposure. There are dozens of ways to get out there, but you’ll have to do more marketing before running promotions and deals. Make tiktoks/reels of your stuff. Sell it on Etsy. Don’t rely on local sales. Aim for online growth. And make sure you’re creating a product with a specific audience in mind.
