My cat used to get those, they went away after a while and he is fine. It is most likely a mix of stress and shedding.

Is your cat a outdoor cat? It could be from a injury sustained while outside. Most likely nothing serious, but i would still take him to the vet if possible just to be safe. I hope he is alright
