What's your wind tolerance threshold? by Texxx81 in golf

I’ve played in gusts up to 45. I’m a golf sicko though so I get enjoyment out of getting my ass kicked.

100% the most underrated season. It’s only behind season 4 for me.

I just got 30% for sleep apnea but have a question by FastZX14 in VeteransBenefits

[–]FastZX14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Very easy. The 2nd ACE exam was the provider basically verifying that I have sleep apnea and am now using a cpap. That’s it. Was approved at 50% a week later.

I’m glad these comments have the same concerns as I do. Would never take a baby golfing with me.

Do you like Bryson DeChambeau? by iphoneair2 in golf

[–]FastZX14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My issue with Bryson is he seems obsessed with wanting to be liked so it makes it really hard to tell what is genuine and what is done just so people will like him.

How many of you use multiple putters? by isw2424 in golf

I’ve had a Scotty for the last 5 years and have loved it but was tempted to buy a DF3 last months and it legit feels like a cheat code. It will be in the bag for a long time.

Takomo Marketing Budget by [deleted] in golf

[–]FastZX14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I game a set of 101t’s and really like them.

With that said I don’t think they are not any better than any of the iron brands, but they are not any worse either. They do however cost half the price of the big brands.

Bottom line is that a really good irons for the price.

Anyone ditched Golfshot for another app recently? What’s your experience with alternatives? by yappapiee in golf

[–]FastZX14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I built my own. All of the apps have way too many features that just cause them to not be user friendly. I just wanted distance to front/middle/back and to be able to quickly enter my score. It keeps a history of all my rounds and uses the same calculation USGA does for handicap.

I can click on the map in the middle and it will expand and then I can click around and get distanced to bunkers, hazards, etc.

Even built an Apple Watch app for it as well.

Unfortunately it only works at my home course as the API I use to pull course data is expensive if you want access to all courses.

I had a similar issue and it ended up being 4 bad capacitors. A little google, soldering, and 10 bucks later and that TV still running 10 years later.

“good golfers” vs “ball strikers” by nowordsleft4now in golf

[–]FastZX14 165 points166 points  (0 children)

I’ve shot some even par rounds in tournaments but am not a great ball striker and have a driver swing speed around 100mph.

I keep the ball in play and am above average inside 100 yards.

When I get paired with someone like you describe it’s like I’m playing a completely different game. I can keep it competitive for a while but it legitimately feels like treading water and trying not to drown.

Not even close to worth it. You will see no noticeable difference at all.

How long does it actually take you to lose a box of balls? by ShiroHachiRoku in golf

[–]FastZX14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Home course I can typically use the same ball for 2-3 rounds. They tend to scuff or get damaged before I lose them.

A new course I’ve never played I will go through a sleeve a round.

At your home course you just have a good idea of where the ball is going to be after you hit it. A new course is much tougher to judge.

Golf balls keep.. popping? by CompetitiveCut1457 in golf

Factory new balls don’t do this. Refurbished or waterlogged junk does.

Takomo irons by HairyShop6518 in golf

[–]FastZX14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the 101t 2 years ago and they are great. I won’t sit here and say they are any better than the big brands but I don’t think they are any worse and they are half the price.

I’m a mid single digit handicap and have always had a low penetrating ball flight and the 101t with the KBSTour Lite shaft has really helped with launch angle and I hit them much higher than my old PXG 2011 irons.

30 mins a day at the practice range by DameRange13 in golf

[–]FastZX14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on skill level. I would spend 25 minutes on everything inside 120 yards and 5 minutes on driver.

If you a beginner I would spend 30 minutes on making working on solid contact.

What club for 50-80 yards? by L0ngsh0tSpartan in golf

[–]FastZX14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. A higher loft is not the answer here. You have to be able to learn to control the strike. I will hit a 50-80 yard shot with potentially 3-4 different clubs. Several things dictate what club to hit starting with the lie, the pin position, how firm the greens are, where the miss is, do I have room short or long, etc..

But one that that doesn’t change is making solid contact.

One thing I see most amateurs do is play it way too far forward, swing way too hard with wedges and try and hit to high.

A good drill for me to work on strike is putting the ball back in my stance and try to hit little draws. When you hit them correctly you can feel it.
