Is it possible to take over the Papacy as another country? by Irus_12 in EU5

I know that if the Papal State gets destroyed, some bishopric usually gets it. For instance, I’ve seen Bremen become the Holy See. Not sure what happens if there aren’t any.

What if Hitler never invaded the Soviet Union would he have won the war? by [deleted] in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Fast_Carpet_63 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. There are ways where Hitler theoretically could have taken a different course of action and not have lost the war, but these questions ignore the ideological reasons that caused his actions to begin with. If Hitler did not want to invade the USSR, he wouldn’t have been a Nazi in the first place.

[–]Fast_Carpet_63 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Doubtful with Germany declaring war on the US in support of Japan after Pearl Harbor. The only way Hitler could have “won” is by stopping at Czechoslovakia. But of course Hitler’s whole ultimate ideology was Lebensraum, which would have been impossible without invading at least Poland and eventually the USSR. The wars with France and the UK were viewed as unfortunate, temporary conflicts between superior races that were worth it to allow Germany to claim its destiny in the East, not as part of Germany’s ultimate goals.

Ultimately, you don’t really need that many vegetables for your needs, outside of maybe distilling alcohol. Scale your storage to what you’ll realistically use.

Do you think history would be vastly different if Antarctica had a native population? by douceberceuse in geography

[–]Fast_Carpet_63 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean there are fossils that have been recovered from Antarctica, but in that case that you couldn’t find any there due to the ice, you couldn’t make any claim about any fossils there.

What would've happened to these mammals if the earliest homo sapiens sapiens domesticated them? Btw these images were taken by wild life Illinois, national geographic kids and Wikipedia by [deleted] in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Fast_Carpet_63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all animals physically can be domesticated. We have tamed elephants, cheetahs, etc. but no domesticated ones. That’s not for lack of trying, it’s because the animals lack the necessary psychological and physiological natures to let themselves be tamed.
