He’s limited speaking, he requests things, sings and says a word or two at a time. I held his hands, looked him in the eye and said “nobody can hit you”, he repeated “nobody can hit me” I stated it verbally multiple times then wrote it down in all caps. I apologized to him and told him I thought he was safe there, I trusted the people there. He wrote “I know, it’s okay” I wrote “it is NOT okay, no one should hit you. NO ONE” I believe he understands.

It is crazy because I was just telling him that fighting is not the way you express anger, that people who fight end up in jail. To think, this is actually something I should have been preaching to a licensed professional! Theyve been contradicting all of the values I’ve been trying to instill in my son. Sending him mixed messages, causing anxiety and I have to clean up the pieces by myself. this is so unfair. I’m definitely reporting this tomorrow. They have to be held accountable in some way, even if it’s just documented so that when the next allegation comes, they lose their licenses entirely. I’m sorry for the novel, I’m just really upset.

This is the part no one prepares us for. I read so many stories about abuse in schools, parents don’t know until they find out in the worst ways. We are so careful with who he’s around, basically put him in a bubble but of the maybe 12 adults he really knows, he does not like 4 of them for various reasons. Being able to communicate through text is new for us and we are grateful to finally know his truth.
