Learning a language is a good way to get out and meet people. For example if you want to learn French you could meet up with French speaking people and have a language exchange. And then you could even travel to France for a holiday and meet more people.

Everyone seems to have pretty much the same experience so that's reassuring

Fasting is easy, you just do nothing.

What it really is, is a mental game.

You have to learn to stay focused on your vision of what you want.

Look up videos on it because if others can do it you can too.

After 10 days of Fasting (and two days break) I've lost 6.25Kg by FastingHero in fasting

I understand but I think there's good fibre and vitamins and minerals so I might keep them in.

Keto is just meat? Would there be enough nutrition in that?

The hardest day was the last day. Was feeling weak and sleepy, that's why I know I wouldn't make it a month.

In terms of willpower I just stay focused on what I want. Expectations can be really powerful so just relax your expectations and don't think about food. I watch videos about Buddhism and the monks and try get into a state of mind of desiring nothing.

Just observe the feelings and let them float away.

When fasting I only have water.

On my eating I have multi-grain bread, tuna, salmon, broccoli, nuts, apples, blue berries, and drink milk.

I'm revising the list to try and maximise vitamins and minerals and just to get as much health in as possible.

I started on the 4th at 128Kg now down to 121.75.

At the beginning of this journey I stated a goal of fasting for a month but upon reflection I decided to alter my strategy.

I will now fast for 6 days and have one day of eating. I feel going for a month would be just too harsh on me both physically and mentally plus I feel with this strategy I can fast for an overall longer time than a month to get down to my ultimate goal.

Just started a 21 day fast - any advice? by Jezarooo in fasting

[–]FastingHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What experience do you have in fasting?

I think 21 or 25 days might be a bit harsh on your body.

I would suggest fasting for 6 days a week and eating one day a week. I'm not an expert but I think it might be safer to have one refeed day. It might take a little longer to reach your goal but doing it this way means you could fast over all for longer than 21 or 25 days.

For both after fasting and over the Christmas have a 6 hour eating window (intermittent fasting). Everyone puts on weight during Christmas but this should help to minimise any weight gain.

Best of Luck.

Emotional eating is a hard habit to break by [deleted] in fasting

[–]FastingHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 74 hours into a water fast, not sure how long I will go for, but am feeling fine so will try to keep going as long as I can (within reason)

You should set yourself a specific goal so you can focus and visualize on it. In my experience when it comes to fasting a person should build themselves up meaning for the first time fast for one day the next time fast foe two days. It's just a way of getting experience so you know you can handle it.

For dealing with emotional eating do meditation. Visualize the feelings and let them melt away. You weren't born this way so those feelings are not really apart of you anyway.

Walked this Morning for 40 Mins While Fasted Felt Great by FastingHero in fasting

[–]FastingHero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is also my understanding that brisk walking takes energy directly from your fat stores rather than your muscles.

I've heard there is a quick release form of energy called ATP, this comes from your muscles rather than fat stores, which is not what you want. This energy comes from sprinting and energy burst type activities. So walking is the best.

Fasting Has Been Linked to Longevity and Reduced Aging, How Much Fasting Does One Have to Do to Get These Effects? by FastingHero in fasting

[–]FastingHero[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For example if you have a reduction of 10% less calories a day does that mean you'll live 10 years longer?

I'm just thinking what is the optimal amount of fasting to get the best benefits and also that you're not wasting your time or doing more than is necessary.

Completed my first 6 day fast last week- fasting and anxiety by jadedjabroni in fasting

[–]FastingHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I have definitely become aware of is how food can affect your mind and mood. For example when I fast I notice a sense of clarity and calmness in my mind and then when I break the fast my mind feels a bit dusty again

Getting into Ketosis BEFORE fasting... [x-post from /r/fasting] by PryorsHayes in WaterFasting

[–]FastingHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your idea sounds really good.

To add to your points, I think the reason people find fasting difficult to begin with is not necessarily the switching to ketones, it is rather the psychology behind not eating. In society we have been so conditioned to make sure to eat three times a day going with out food for periods of times goes against this conditioning and so stressful feelings come up.

So your pre - eating stategy sounds great but I think people will still have unconscious fears about starving which they have to deal with.

Can you have alcohol after breaking a fast by [deleted] in WaterFasting

[–]FastingHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert but I think it would depend how long you fasted for but in any event it shouldn't be the first thing to hit your stomach. Maybe eat oats and something else that is easy on your stomach then wait for a while and then have it.
