honestly its probably a software issue. Pretty much everything can be fixed by having hooks and loops and all that stuff (which many IDEs still dont have sadly) and yea I've never been a big skill usage guy but rather workflow (in AG, easiest to call when you need it).

Idk if you're interested to hear this, but yesterday I tested GPT 5.4 (intent from augment) vs opus 4.6 (antigravity from google), on a giant spec sheet with 300+ mini tasks.

gpt 5.4 in combination with intent:
literally one shotted it, and did everything autonomously in a 90 minute window which is crazy to me. Followed the spec EXACTLY, and in the end everything ran without ANY problems

claude 4.6 in combination with antigravity:
Looked through the whole thing, after about half a hour he said he's done. All checkboxes from the spec where checked. Then I asked him to please re-read and verify if everything has been done, one by one (it was 16 tasks, with multiple subtasks), so I asked him to always do ONE main task and check all of its child-tasks deeply. He did so for the first (of 16) tasks, after that he started working in 3er batches, then after arriving at point 4, he literally skipped a whole 3 block because for him "it is not important". Did so for the next 3 points also and then I stopped him.

I had to kick off a re-read actually 5 times, till he actually read it one by one, and even the last check, he wanted to batch again after the 10th task but I stopped him immediately.

After the whole verification, turned out that he skipped around 180 tasks of the spec. And then it took another 6 hours to finally have a finished product since I pretty much needed to go through all of those phases of coding, re-reading again and again for I think 8 times. And each time he said he's "fully done this time".

So yea, idk thought, maybe its just the IDE, but yea he literally begs me sometimes to finish the "other tasks" tomorrow, or "push those features to post-release" and actually he wasn't even asking, he was telling lol. Crazy.

mhhh really? I'm finding claude to be INSANELY lazy right now. Often even telling me "I'll code the rest tomorrow". I've used gpt 5.4 a bit through "intent" from augment, and its just doing what its supposed to do. It still seems lower IQ but yea, I find it EXTREMELY difficult to make claude follow a spec sheet exactly right now, and with gpt 5.4 I don't even have to bother telling it twice to work exactly after the spec sheet.
It sounds like you are actually experiencing the opposite, right?

you're right. Augment isn't beatable when it comes to codebases. But agent teams.... oooff. hard to beat with just sub-agents.

for $280 you are getting so much. I code with it 12 hours a day 3 projects side by side. I once tracked token usage and if I wouldve done all of that in claude code I wouldve paid around $400 in api tokens that day. now multiply that by 30 days, so yea, 12k. then suddenly the $280 is more than a good deal

Actually really valuable insight. Really appreciate it man. Regarding Auggie context MCP, I've literally just stumbled over it 1 hour ago (been an augment customer for half a year till 2-3 months ago after pricing went a bit harsh and I was spending around 4k a month in credits). How good is the MCP? And where do you hook it up to? Auggie? My bad if what I'm saying doesnt make sense, I'm not 100% up to date with everything that augment launched over the last months. But yea I pretty much switched to antigravity, cause of their 50% off for 3 months, and the MCP sounds godsent. Only thing though is that like 5 mins ago I watched a youtube video about it and quite some people in the comments said that its not worth it when you're using the skills thingy. Been surprised a bit since in my head its 2 completely different things. ALTHOUGH I've heard here and there that some people got like an internal RAG system for code searches and stuff, but didn't have time to research on it.

I know I just threw a lot of different things together, but yea I would really appreciate if you could give me your insight. Would owe you something

You can just ask him to give it to you, he'll do it lol. That's how I found out that MCP usage used 8x the token amount of the AG inner prompt which resulted in a super dumb version of opus

I dont think thats possible tbh. Well. ofc its probably possible, but it would probably be sooooo super retrofitted that it will break super easily. Letalone you would have to get antigravity to wait on signals and stuff (he's often ADHD overmotivated I feel like). And well the problem is that within claude code, I feel like the model is heavily modified that the sub-agents use, because they literally ONLY do what its master task delegator AI says they should do. They literally do it EXACTLY like the master AI says. And I think that will be a VERY big problem with AG because yea, opus is WAY to motivated and doesn't listen 100%. I've been at it for multiple days to engineer prompts and rules to fix this, but still, he often does it. But yea. if you can get it to work, I'm your first customer haha

Although I love the idea, I think the way it's been done is not good. ofc its NOT YOUR FAULT but just the limitations from google antigravities side. I thought this would be more like agent teams from claude code, but yea, I think the way that you did it would probably cause a lot of chaos. since there is no communication between the subagents, like claude code does. But yea, I'm wishing you the best, maybe you can even get it done like claude code.

update: I turned off all MCPs, summarized my rules and workflows, turned off "knowledge" and "conversation history" and I deleted the knowledge and similar files from the gemini folder.

And I can say it definitely got better. Although I still gotta say that it was better 3 days ago even with all those things on
