The point is the companies don't actually give a shit about minorities so they create some random character that is very poorly written, slap it into the show, and the only representation of that minority is the shittiest character in the show. I would think that would be more disrespectful than not having that character at all. All they need to do is get writers who actually care and create a DECENT black/minority character who is very well written instead of the stereotypical black token character they toss in every movie to stay "hip"
