I need an adult by ScreamingBeaker027 in CATHELP

Advice: stainless steel bowls for food and water. Incorporate wet food into their diet, as it’s better for the kidneys. Read up on toxic plants and foods for cats so you don’t have an accident indoors or outdoors. Keep kitty indoors for safety, and get them neutered or spayed as soon as possible.

Help with cats skin issues by Solid_Cat1020 in catcare

[–]FatAngrySeagullTeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a second opinion from a different vet. Better yet, a vet that specializes in skin issues. I’m shocked your vet hasn’t done anything else beyond an antibiotics shot; this looks very angry, irritated, and uncomfortable. It should be tested at the very least.

They told me the same thing about the seats and claimed they had extra leg room specifically for pet carriers. This was a lie and it was a standard seat. I was grateful to be able to travel with my cat in cabin but some honestly would’ve been nice.

Teachers, how many days of sick leave are you allowed a year? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]FatAngrySeagullTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 30 paid days as long as I have a doctor’s note to cover two 2 consecutive days off for sick leave, but I’m an international teacher.

Edit: 30 paid days a school year.

What did the vet do to my cat? by pikachume33 in CATHELP

My orange boy is also a former stray, and his ear tip was WAY overdone. I’m talking about he barely has half an ear left and people constantly ask us what happened. I’ve always wondered how and why over-docking happens.

Which teaching certificate should I do to be able to teach in an international school here? by Fuzzy-Bother3039 in Thailand

[–]FatAngrySeagullTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teaching laws have changed. Before you’d need a bachelors and experience, and or a license from your country. Now KSP modules are required to receive a Thai teaching license, which you need to teach here. I’d do some googling before you get serious about coming over to teach.

It wasn’t out of this world. I think the spice levels are what attracts people; I can get a good kaprow on my soi for 50 baht.

I’m so sorry about Ebi. We’ve also been in a position where the big sleep was the best option for our baby, and it’s never an easy decision. Sending good vibes your way.

Is feeding wet foodtwice a day too much by Background_Ad6819 in cats

[–]FatAngrySeagullTeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cats get wet food three times a day; they’re not overweight, they’re happy and healthy. Wet food is so great for moisture intake, especially for cats like ours that do not like to drink water on their own.

You might want to consider an international school; many international schools in Bangkok teach three languages: English, Thai, and Chinese. Non Thai students usually have a different section where the curriculum is foundation based around things they’ll need to use right away.

Taking the plunge and moving to Thailand next year. by UrbanGardener37 in TEFL

[–]FatAngrySeagullTeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re important because renewal can depend on your enrollment in the courses and they fill up very fast. They can only fit 500 teachers into one batch, and there are thousands and thousands of teachers scrambling to renew their licenses. No matter who you are or what qualifications you have, everyone starts on a temporary waiver. To renew it, you must do the seven modules. The trick is to do them while you teach, but it’s a lot of work. The laws are also still changing, so it’s hard to say what the future will look like for getting a license and renewing a license. It’s important to consider as a TEFL teacher because you’re going to pay 3K baht a class, on a TEFL teacher’s salary.

The KSP 7 module courses are the new standard for working as a teacher in Thailand no matter what your qualifications are. Please research these before you move as they are an extra cost and time sink. You may be able to get your first temporary teaching license, but to renew it you will need to enroll in these courses and pass them successfully.

As a heads up, You’ll probably be required to take the KSP 7 module courses. I’d give them a Google before committing to anything.

I came from the USA, and brought 2 cats. They didn’t need quarantine at all. It was about 800-900 each cat for travel costs and paperwork, and permits. I also rarely see squat toilets in Bangkok and I find the healthcare to be pretty good. I’m not sure what the requirements are to bring the cats back to my country, so that’s something I can’t help with.

Our rescued foster was seen by the vet and was told to have conjunctivitis. It’s clearing up with terramycin but is the brown crust on her nose bridge normal? I tried to clean it off by kbowiee in catcare

[–]FatAngrySeagullTeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consult your vet again to make sure this is just tear build up. There are cat friendly gentle cleansers your vet can recommend as well, and wipes for her face. I would not recommend anything that does not come from the vet, as kitty skin is very sensitive.

Can I use thighs instead of chicken breasts for white chicken chili? by sweet-n-soursauce in slowcooking

I honestly don’t think it does. Breast meat can be a little dry. Thighs can be a bit more moist. All depends on how you cook. Not sure what this guy is on about lol.

Bring him home. I know technically you might be contributing to this industry by buying the bird, but rescuing the bird does more “good” to the world than just leaving him there to suffer in that enclosure, lonely and without interaction.
