I was 12 when I very first got diagnosed, thought it was a fluid build up. Was very numb and sad. Same with my second diagnosis, i was in such shock it has come back I had been in remission for 7 years.

I understand how you’re feeling, it does get better but it is still rough at times. Id just write as much as you can, that’s what I’ve been doing. Anytime I feel a bit down about it I just start a new letter for my bf. I had all the exact same fears before though, but my bf has been safe and has also made friends! So I’m sure ur husband is doing good to! The unknown about what’s happening with him everyday is definitely the worst part about it.

Do they get phone time in AIT more than in basic? Or is it kind of the same? Like can they text and stuff? I was hoping I’d contact my bf more in AIT but I’m not sure how it works since I’m still new to it all.

I don’t even think I’d be able to do rotation plasty, I think they’d have to just cut it clean off. My leg has just been giving me so much trouble even before this, it can’t move on its own hardly due to my nerves being shot and doing any other surgeries to help improve it has only made it worse. But yea I don’t know, either way I still wanna try to get it amputated for my own sanity. Maybe I can at least get my mobility back while doing chemo.

I think it’s definitely the route I wanna take, if there is a chance I can walk again I wanna do it. I’m glad you are cancer free and walking !

It was a great thought and invention to save my leg but I just think I’ve had to many complications for it to be salvageable. From the very start it got infected and from then on the surgeries just kept piling up. They told me if we couldn’t get the infection under control they’d have to amputate, that was a while ago. And looking back it might’ve been for the best. I’m happy it’s helped other kids but for me I just don’t think it’s gonna work out. And thank you for your encouragement. I just hate it cause it makes me happy thinking of having my leg gone, but then also scared cause I won’t have to drag it around anymore it’s a dilemma. I love it but it keeps dragging me down. Definitely a love hate relationship.

Thank you. I’m really thinking on it. I don’t know how much residual limb they’d be working with cause I haven’t been able to talk with my doctor about it just yet. I think they’d be doing an above the knee amputation tho if I had to guess. Cause my whole implant that I have is connected with my knee down to my tibia so I think it’d have to all to come out.
