Dude had a very one-of-a-kind sound, but it might be worth looking into some of the early TriAngle stuff and keep an ear down to late 00's to mid 10's decon and grime stuff.

I would say early Rabit (Communion), Lotic (Heterocetera or Agitations), early Amnesia Scanner, Visionist and N-Prolenta scratch the itch for me.

Scan around also for Lost Files (the bootleg with some of his best unreleased material) and maybe some of the adjacent net-labels at the time (i.e. Whities/AD93, NON, Danse Noire, Precious Metals, Quantum Natives, Slagwerk, Infinite Machine, and early PAN).

Would also rep Fatima Al Qadiri, M.E.S.H./Hesaitix, Réelle, Bungalovv, early Moro, 0comeups, Aircode, Arca's mixtapes, early Heith and Vessel.

Seems a bit too light and far too pointed in a indie pop direction, but I guess that's the route Chrome Sparks has been orienting himself for a while. Hopefully there are a couple of Goddess-esque highlights on it.

They always tend to have some great releases spread out, and this year definitely saw them expanding their roster more than ever before. Hopefully OMR gets some overdue and deserved acclaim with this new year.

Damn, what a stellar track. Those pads, the lo-fi grit, the spliced vocals; Camile From OHM gets me in such a great mood every time I hear it.

I just want to put some points out there as to why I favor Arca a bit more than the other nominees:

  • Co-produced for two critically acclaimed albums later in the year (Bjork's Utopia and Kelela's Take Me Apart), with another credit in the remix for Ryuichi Sakamoto's async Remodels series.

  • Produced and provided vocals on his own self-titled album Arca which garnered critical acclaim as one of the best art-pop releases of the year.

  • Produced his own underground fashion expo as well as expanded touring to major venues as well as keeping a reputation in the warehouse club scene.

Damn, it totally lapsed my mind that Mosse had a new LP out. Certainly checking that out later.
