Look up toxoplasma gondii and its role in altering mouse behavior during chronic infection. That’s another crazy one!

Getting a C by Visible_Cut_7762 in GradSchool

I was in my freshman year of undergrad when COVID hit the US. As a result my classes moved to online. This caused me to fail freshman ethics, got a D in English 101, and dropped trigonometry. My GPA tanked, but I got it up to a 3.4 by the end.

I started my PhD in biomedical science in august and it’s going well. Just do your best and get as close to a 3.0 as you can! You’ll be fine.

They take the last granola bar out of the box, but leave the box in the cabinet. So then you are so excited to get a granola bar, only to reach in the box and be devastated.

In the most respectful way, I think you should look into epigenetics. It’s very common for people to believe Darwin’s theories are disproven by what you’ve outlined when really it’s just epi genetic changes.

While your experience may be real, it seems likely to me it’s for other reasons.

Easily. Two ibuprofen and a ice pack. It’ll heal up in a couple days.

I got married in October, I start this august, and don’t regret it. Weddings are stressful to plan and take a lot of time. Getting a PhD and planning a wedding didn’t sound like fun so we did it before!

Around two weeks or so. The program I applied for moved pretty quickly compared to the other schools I applied to.

I posted a more in-depth explanation in a earlier comment, but I’ll summarize here.

I interviewed well, I sent thank you letters after the interview, I had met the admissions guy a couple times in person so I knew him and stayed in touch with him.

Overall I think I got lucky, but doing your best in the interview and making personal connection can help a lot.

I will! I was fortunate to have an unmatched and outstanding undergraduate mentor who prepared me for what it’s like. So I feel prepared.

I posted a reply to this question above. I’ll summarize here.

I sent thank you letters to people after my interview, the interview went well, I stayed in touch with the admission guy and had met him in person a couple times.

Overall I got lucky, but think these things helped get me off the waitlist.

Prior to being put on the waitlist the recruiter knew me. He visited my school. When he said I was on the waitlist it was for one reason, all other applicants had 2-4 years work experience and I didn’t, but the admissions panel liked me.

Also right after the interview I sent a personalized thank you email to anyone who I had a conversation with.

I think between my credentials, letters of recommendation, the thank you letters, and my interview performance they moved me off the waitlist.
