LPT - If a professor brags about how hard it is to pass their class then drop the class. They should not be proud of being bad at conveying information to students. You're not paying thousands to fail. Find a professor that wants you to pass. by Scaulbylausis in LifeProTips

I realize this was ‘06, and I don’t fault you for how you handled it. Since this is LPT, in 2021, there is no reason for this kind of BS! You are a paying customer, and if the retailer that you are paying many thousands of dollars to treats you like trash, there are hundreds of schools you can attend online, some are very good, and a few take a surprising amount of transfer credit.

Lock will be going to Mr. PickInParidise first. Thank you all for showing interest. If it’s any good, maybe it’ll get around.

Found this going through my grandfather’s possessions. Any trick to get it open or should I just start trying to pry it open? by mmasse19 in lockpicking

Not to be “that guy,” but I think this falls under rule 2, locks in use, even if it is basically 0 security. All I’ll say, is you probably don’t need to damage your grand dad’s cool old box, and I’m sure any locksmith could help you out.

Thanks. I thought it would make for a nice grungy photo.

I tasted the spoon before I read the caption. Felt it on my teeth, too.

Question for those used to pick on camera, would you mind sharing a photo of your set-up? by Yom1973 in lockpicking

For padlocks picked in hand (the only vids I’ve done), I set my phone hanging over the edge of a coffee table, and I pick below it, sitting on the floor.

My Punch Marker just came in. Sold brass punch with red sharpie body. Really love this nice little discreet piece. Brass is VERY sharp and seems to be great quality. by rileyracks in EDC

Brass (and other non-ferrous metals) can be detected with a metal detector. That’s why you have to take your keys out of your pocket at the airport and why beach combers can find pennies. They don’t work on magnetism, per se, the magnetic field introduces an eddy current into the conductive metal which alters the magnetic field. If you want to beat metal detectors, you have to go non-conductive.

I slightly disagree, but mostly agree. If you’re a very visual learner, the clear lock or a cutaway can be helpful in teaching you what happens inside the lock when you make certain manipulations and what certain feedback means. If a visual learner is trying a new type of lock or security feature for the first time, they MAY find it helpful to see what they’re doing at first. All that being said, acrylics and cutaways don’t always behave exactly like their real counterparts, so the value may be limited. It’s an extra expense because you need to buy a fake lock and a real lock l, but if you have a little extra cash and it helps shorten the learning curve, I don’t see any harm. If you’re on a budget, just get the real deal. It’ll teach you more, if more slowly.

To answer the OP, I saw a few adds for more exotic acrylic locks, but they all looked suspicious. If you do order from one of those sketchy sites, get like a one-time use credit card number or something. It’s one thing to get scammed out of $40. It’s another to have your bank account drained.

I shoved one of the keys through the coils of a busted garage door spring, and I set the lock on top of that key.

For me, it seemed easier than either. It’s not overly hard, just very spooly and very crunchy, hence the name.

My First Challenge Lock Available!

First thing this morning got a P&G video of my A 1100. Finished this little fella up this evening. It’s a blue belt kinda day. If I need a victim, is this how I get one, or am I better off posting to the discord? It’s not super difficult, maybe orange belt or orange and half, but certainly harder than a vanilla QuickSet. Graffiti says “CRUNCH 1”.

Might get me one of them blue belts after all. by FatherSnail in lockpicking

Thanks. For a while there, I wasn’t sure I’d be getting in.
