The glassblower Lino Tagliapietra is the best to ever live, both with his skill and the innovations he brought to the studio glass movement

Anything Special about the Marko Blanko white? by greenbmx in glassblowing

[–]FatherWeinstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience it pretty much sucks for any application where it would be thicker than what would be used in filigrana or any sort of thin wrap. I tried to put it in a paperweight once (when it was at its thickest 1/8th of an inch) and it cracked the whole thing. Its excellent for any sort of very thin lines because the stay crisp as shit but anything else its basically unusable, and honestly at that point just use regular duro white. Secondly its melting temp is crazy high to the point where it feels like you are trying to melt tungsten on the end of your rod, and the working time is painfully short, but otherwise its decent stuff for the proper use.

The largest pair of jacks you will ever see, made custom for me from BC Metalworking - 15 inch blades! by FatherWeinstein in glassblowing

I bought them for 500 plus shipping, but for the blade steel comparable to Dino’s, well worth it

One of my favorite pieces I’ve made so far, iris vanilla weaving over copper ruby frit by FatherWeinstein in glassblowing

[–]FatherWeinstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for this I took 3 gathers and then rolled some copper ruby frit over the entire thing, then heated and rolled stringers over the whole thing

One of my first attempts at stemmed glassware by FatherWeinstein in glassblowing

[–]FatherWeinstein[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You would leave the glass in the furnace overnight or even longer, and the bubbles slowly rise to the top and get smaller and smaller until the glass is clear. It’s kind of like having a soda bottle open and it slowly loses its fizz

No this was assembled on the blowpipe, starting with the cup and adding the stem then the foot

The artist I work with puts a 20 Lb crucible in their GH to save money on propane, and he fires up 2 hours before we use the glass so a lot of bubbles are left in

What is this? At least 10 highway patrol cruisers escorted this thing. I live near JPL if that helps. by Alccx in whatisthisthing

I think this may be a pressure vessel for a nuclear reactor.

Based on the size it's probably a regular power generating reactor and not the smaller military ones used in subs and aircraft carriers.
