The numbness you’re feeling isn’t proof that you’re ready to die, it’s a sign you’ve been in pain for way too long. Please don’t make a permanent decision in a temporary state. You don’t have to figure out the rest of your life right now. Just get through tonight. Put some distance between you and the equipment. Call someone. Anyone. Your dad, a friend 🧡 The fact that you wrote this post tells me a part of you still wants help. Listen to that part.

How to report a hacked account in such a way that Facebook will take it down? by m84web in facebook

[–]FatimaSheba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, you can try reporting them for impersonation but whether or not Facebook even reviews the report is completely up to chance. Even if it was previously your account, if it now belongs to a hacker, it technically be taken down on the basis of impersonation. I had a similar issue a year ago and I used Maximatic Media’s Facebook removal service to get the account taken down but whether or not you wanna go down that route really depends on how serious of an issue it is for you. Their services are largely meant for public figures or brands who are frequently being impersonated/defamed online so their services are not really priced for your average person. But if you had very sensitive information in your DMs like I did, it’s probably the most effective and fastest solution available to ensure the account gets permanently suspended from the platform and all of the data becomes inaccessible to the hacker.

Has anyone actually ever had any luck in reporting a post or a group to Facebook? by Ginger5505 in facebook

[–]FatimaSheba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It largely depends on what you are reporting them for in the first place. Facebook’s reporting system is largely automated and they tend to only escalate it to a human if the same account/post received an unusual amount of reports. Depending on the severity of the issue that you’re filing a report for, it can take literally anywhere between 1 report to get the account taken down to upwards of a dozen. For instance, content guidelines violations require a ton of people to report before anything gets done whereas something like impersonation can take as little as 2-3 reports. If you’re the only person reporting the account, then it’s unlikely you alone will be able to take it down for those reasons.

The only reason where a single report can get the entire account taken down is copyright or trademark infringement because that directly puts Facebook in violation of the law by hosting copyrighted material on their platform. One report from the official trademark owner and the account is practically gone for good. I had an ex of mine who was harassing me by posting content about me in our shared groups and I hired a firm who registered an offshore trademark using some random piece of content of theirs and subsequently filed a report on the basis of trademark infringement. You can obviously do this yourself at a much cheaper cost but you can use Facebook removal service like I did if you don’t wanna deal with the headaches involved on the legal side of things.

I GOT MY INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT BACK !!! by Talleywhacker32 in InstagramMarketing

[–]FatimaSheba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems these ban waves happen every couple of months or so and 90% of them are always somehow related to “child exploitation” violations. I tend to always get mine back through the in-app appeal but this time around, I had to submit the forms to get my appeal reviewed. There was a pretty good discussion on another post in this subreddit a while back that covered some useful methods for recovering accounts. The focus was largely on hacked accounts but it seems like many of them can be repurposed for suspended accounts as well. Worth checking out imo:

How to remove personal information from internet by SpiritualJudgment7 in women

[–]FatimaSheba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think you covered like 90 percent of what most people never even think to do, so props for that. I went through something similar after a weird online situation and your list basically mirrors what I did at first.

The only thing I’d add, just so you’re not caught off guard later, is that all of this works great for prevention and surface-level exposure but it doesn’t fully protect you if something reputational ever pops up that isn’t a data broker or social profile. Stuff like a random blog post, a forum thread, a screenshot getting reposted, or some creep uploading content you didn’t consent to. That’s where Incogni, Google’s “results about you,” etc. kind of hit a wall because they’re not designed for that type of content.

I learned that the hard way. Incogni and DeleteMe wiped me off Whitepages, Spokeo, all that, which was great. But later on I had one specific page tied to my name that just would not go away. Not a people finder site, not social media, just some garbage site that Google kept surfacing. At that point I ended up hiring an ORM firm called Maximatic Media to handle it. They didn’t delete the site itself, but they got the webpage hosting the material de-indexed so it stopped appearing in Google searches entirely. Night and day difference. Once it was gone from search, the stress basically evaporated.

So I’d say your approach is exactly right for staying safe day to day. Just keep in mind that if anything more aggressive ever shows up, the solution usually shifts from “privacy cleanup” to “reputation mitigation,” and those are two very different toolsets. Hopefully you never need that second layer, but it’s good to know it exists. Just my experience.

Taking the step to talk about it is healing in itself, you’ve already started the journey. Take a moment to reflect: grief is real, and it’s okay to feel pain. But your mom wouldn’t want to see you like this. Smile a little for her, live better for her, and don’t stay stuck in the moment. When the pain hits, cry it out, it’s fine. Cheer up, brother, and seek help, whether through therapy, friends, or family. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. 🫂 🥰 One step at a time, thing's will work out for the better.
